Himesiya Seogyojeom

히메시야 서교점 The name reads as Japanese, where meshiya means a casual rice eatery; no post explains it further.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Himesiya Seogyo is a small Japanese rice-bowl shop on a ground-to-basement level in an alley off Wausan-ro 29ma-gil, near exit 7 of Hongik University Station. It serves salmon bowls such as sakedon and salmon-belly don, plus katsudon, gyudon, curry and udon. Posts give katsudon at 11,000 won, mixed katsudon at 12,000, sakedon at 15,500, salmon-belly don at 16,500 and unagi-don at 17,000. Sides are pickled radish, kimchi and miso soup. Three posts say the first table at lunch or dinner opening gets a free grilled salmon head. We read 28 posts dated 18 March to 9 October 2026 and counted 18 of them as records of an actual meal. The line that this branch grew from a Sangsu main shop opened in 2013 is the shop's own blurb, copied by bloggers.

Rows without a count: 2 of 9 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You can eat here alone. All ten posts that describe the seating mention places to sit, and several say single seats or a bar counter sit alongside two- and four-person tables. One post says it is mostly four-tops with a bar along one side; another counted seven tables. One post went solo, six went with friends and one was a family with children.
  2. The room is small: all seven posts that mention its size say it is not spacious. Two say tables fill quickly at lunch; one found it quiet at 11:30 on a weekend, then full soon after.
  3. Celebrity autographs hang on the walls; six posts saw them, one naming AKMU, Lee Kyung-kyu and Kim Young-chul, another Song Eun-i, Vasco and Bong Tae-gyu. Three posts say the shop was on the TV show 'Master of Life', but that is hearsay and we did not count it.
  4. Five posts call the portions large; one disagrees, saying a man might need two bowls. Three posts say you can get more: sides from a self-serve corner, a sign inviting you to ask for more rice, sauce or curry, and free rice and curry refills.

  1. Food comes out fast: four posts say so, one noting a ten-minute wait at the lunch peak. One of the four stopped in to eat before a concert.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 17 posts

No post describes the floor from experience. The address says ground/basement level and one copied listing says underground, but nobody mentions going down stairs, so we don't know whether it is a full basement or half-level.

Nobody mentions steps or a threshold at the entrance, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there are none. Posts do mention a trampoline, a small flower bed and a menu board out front.

Only one post mentions the toilet: it is inside, on the right as you walk in. Nobody says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-05-242 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waits vary. Two posts waited: one about ten minutes just after 2 p.m. on a weekend, another noticed a queue forming as they left. One post walked straight in and another arrived early to an empty room. One post notes the whole party must be present before you are seated.
  • Ten of the meal posts list opening hours, mostly copied from the listing. Six give 11:40-21:30; two give a 21:20 close and one gives 11:00-20:30. Several give a break of 15:00-16:40 on weekdays and 15:40-16:40 at weekends. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices are from 2026 posts. An August post puts the menu at 7,000 to 16,500 won, averaging 11,000-12,000; a May post has unagi-don at 17,000. Three posts say it is not expensive and none say it is. Three mention a free drink for writing a receipt review.
  • Two posts give the phone number 0507-1410-4562. Nobody says whether the shop takes reservations.
  • We set aside six template posts from 18-24 May 2026. They name no dish and no price, repeat the same phrases about a Hongdae izakaya, solo dining and fresh ingredients, and one still contains an unfilled ad-disclosure placeholder. Three posts that only copied the Naver listing were also left out.
  • Summer menu: posts from late May to August 2026 mention cold soba and tonkatsu soba, described as a seasonal start. No post from September on mentions them, so we don't know if they are still served.
