Geudongne Tteokbokki

그동네떡볶이 Geudongne means 'that neighborhood' — the name of a tteokbokki (simmered rice cake) shop in the old-neighborhood style.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

A small snack shop on Wausan-ro 27-gil, down the alleys from Exit 8 of Hongik University Station. The draws are cheese-falls rabokki served in an earthenware pot (₩10,900) and a dry, oil-crisped garlic tteokbokki (₩6,000), usually eaten with six mixed fritters (₩6,000) and galbi gimbap with wasabi mayo (₩5,300); a set of all four for two or three runs ₩27,900. Water, pickled radish, hot broth and cutlery are self-serve. We read 14 posts dated 24 July to 14 October 2026, all from people who went; one disclosed sponsorship, three said they paid themselves, ten said nothing.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Eleven of the 14 posts single out the crisp batter — thin enough, several say, that the shrimp, squid, sweet potato or kabocha still tastes of itself. One mentions burning the roof of their mouth on it on a past visit. Two suggest soaking the leftover crumbs in the tteokbokki broth.
  2. Seven posts say the portions are large. One calls the 'two-serving' rabokki enough for three; another thought they'd been brought a double portion until they saw solo diners with the same size pot.
  3. Six posts waited or saw a line, one walked straight in, three were mixed. Recorded waits: one group ahead on a Sunday evening, 15 minutes at a weekday lunch, 40 minutes in early-August heat — after which the owner handed out a free cola for their patience. Off-peak weekday visits got in at once.
  4. Eleven posts describe the seating; seven mention bar seats alongside mostly two-person tables and one table for three or four. Counts vary from three to six tables. Seven posts say the room is small, and two point out a high shelf on the wall for bags.
2 more
  1. Six posts call it good value and none call it expensive — the ₩27,900 set is 'very cheap for what you get', and the fritters work out to about ₩1,000 apiece.
  2. Five posts come from repeat visitors — third, fourth, 'Nth' visits.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot1 of 14 posts

One post saw for itself that there is no parking — the alley out front is too narrow; two others just copy a 'no parking' line. Use a nearby public lot.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

7 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

No post says which floor the shop is on — nobody mentioned it.

Nobody wrote about steps at the door or wheelchair or stroller access; we only know the room is small and the alley narrow.

Two posts mention a sign by the door pointing to the toilet, but nobody says whether it is inside the shop or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Heat is disputed: three posts call the sauce mild and sweet, one says it is properly spicy, and one child found the chicken a bit hot.
  • Five posts were couples, two were friends, two families; no one went alone — 'good for solo diners' is a guess based on the bar seats.
  • Twelve posts give the same opening hours — daily 11:30-21:40, last order 21:00 — all copied from the listing. One says last order 21:50; one says open every day of the year. One post found the hot broth gone near closing.
  • Eight posts give the same phone number, 0507-1362-5414, but nobody says whether reservations are taken. Prices held steady from July to October 2026; the cheese-falls tteokbokki (₩8,000) and cheese-falls rabokki (₩10,900) are separate dishes.
