Gaepan

게판 Two posts explain the name as short for a slogan, roughly 'the stage the guests set' (게스트가 판 깔아준); it also puns on 게, crab — the house logo is a crab — and on 개판, 'a madhouse'.

Gaepan's Hongdae branch is an indoor pocha (Korean-style tent bar, moved indoors) on the ground floor of 6 Jandari-ro, in the middle of the Hongdae club strip. Posts describe it as the Hongdae outpost of a well-known Apgujeong Rodeo bar; the 'since 2009' line comes from the house itself. It opens at 5 p.m. and runs until morning. Anju — stews, hot pots, boiled pork — mostly cost in the 20,000s; all four posts that priced the suyuk bossam paid 24,000 won. Tables come set with disposable cutlery and paper cups, and a wall screen plays SpongeBob or music videos. We read 30 posts dated 3 December 2025 to 2 October 2026. We set aside two because we couldn't tell which branch they described, and didn't count one that recast the house's promotional copy as a visit. The other 27 are first-hand visits.

Rows without a count: 16 of 22 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Portions are large. Of the nineteen posts that mentioned quantity, eighteen called it generous. One pair ordered the beef-and-mushroom hot pot and said it would have fed four or five; another said the boiled pork came piled like a mountain; a third meant to order a second dish but was full after the bossam alone.
  2. Eleven posts called the place clean, mostly about the toilets and tables; one added that the open kitchen made it feel more trustworthy.
  3. Seven posts said prices were reasonable and none called them expensive. One reckoned the 24,000-won bossam would cost about 40,000 won delivered; a pair spent 43,000 won on perilla sujebi, fried rice, a draft beer and a ginger ale. Five posts mentioned a free pineapple sherbet for posting a receipt review.
  4. It's known as a pickup bar, yet six posts came as couples, seven with friends and one with a group of colleagues. One couple only realised it was a hunting pocha once inside.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read)
Toilet inside8 of 27 posts
Separate restrooms7 of 27 posts

No post said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — that means unknown, not absent. One post confirmed first-hand that it's at street level.

Eight posts said the toilets are inside the bar, and seven said they are separated by sex. One explained the layout: past the fridge, the men's room is nearer and the women's is further in, so women queue at the inner door. Another noted hand soap was provided — and several said the toilets were unusually clean for a Hongdae bar.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on size split: eight posts called it spacious, two said it was smaller than expected or tightly packed. Seating runs from two-person tables to group tables, and four posts mentioned a wall of windows opened up for a street-bar feel.
  • On cooling, one post got cold enough to ask for a blanket while another found it hot because the windows were open and the air conditioning didn't reach. It may depend on where you sit.
  • Twenty-two posts listed opening hours, but almost all copied them from the listing: most often Sunday–Thursday 5 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday–Saturday 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. One post gave 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and another said the banner at the door read 8 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. at weekends. One post warned that the opening time varies from what's online and suggested calling first.
  • Only two posts said first-hand that it's an easy walk from the station (Sangsu, or halfway between Hapjeong and Hongik Univ.). The '368 m from Sangsu Station exit 1' line in many posts was copied from the listing.
  • No post reported queueing. Several said it was empty in the early evening and filled up around 8 p.m.; one sat straight away on a Sunday but expected waits at Friday and Saturday peaks.
  • Many posts gave the phone number 0507-1449-1546. 'Reservations accepted' was copied from the listing; no post said they booked.
  • Promotional writing is mixed in. Two posts by the same blogger paste the house's promo copy (celebrity regulars, homemade dishes, grilled mackerel) and add little beyond what was ordered and that portions were big; another post includes the same promo paragraph. One post disclosed sponsorship. Many mention the review-for-dessert offer, and posts cluster heavily in July 2026.
