Bar

Chupa

추파 Chupa is the Korean word for an amorous glance — making eyes at someone.

Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →

Chupa is a big lounge-style bar on the fourth floor of a building on Hongdae's main strip (Hongik-ro 3-gil). You go up by elevator to a wide hall with booths and group rooms, and most posts describe parties of five to nine. Food is bar fare around 20,000 won a dish — perilla pasta with brisket, spicy webfoot octopus, cheese potato pancake — plus three-dish sets at 45,000–52,000 won; highballs are 7,500 won. We read 24 posts from March 2025 to September 2026. We set aside 10 that were really about other places (mostly Yeonhwa Jujeom in Sangam-dong) and 3 that only copied listing info or showed the address, which leaves 11 that describe an actual visit (July 2025 to August 2026).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. This is a place for groups. Four posts mention private rooms, and two say the group room holds up to 14. Another post had five people at a partitioned booth, and one described a semi-separate table for about ten. Of the posts that say who they went with, five were groups: a wedding-invitation dinner, a team birthday, and parties of five, eight and nine.
  2. There is a smoking room inside the bar. Five posts mention it; one notes smokers don't have to step outside.
  3. A free bar snack of dry crackers comes to the table. Four posts mention it, calling it crackers, biscuits or hardtack. One said the serving is huge; another found it floury and not good.
  4. There's no tablet ordering. A July 2025 post ticked items on a paper slip and asked staff for extras; an August 2026 post ordered from the menu through staff and found calling them every time a bit of a hassle, even with a bell on each table.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor2 of 10 posts
Toilet inside2 of 10 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 10 posts

Nobody mentioned an entrance step or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Two posts say they took the elevator up to the fourth floor. That doesn't mean access is a problem — just that no one wrote about it.

The restrooms are inside the bar. Two posts mention this: one says the men's and women's rooms are separate, in a back corner; the other says there were only two stalls and one was blocked. A third post says the restrooms behind the screen are split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. In the March 2025 listing and a July 2025 post, the cheese charcoal chicken was 22,000 won and the brisket stew rice 18,000 won; an August 2026 post has them at 23,000 and 20,000. The cheese potato pancake was 15,000 won on a January 31, 2026 visit and 16,000 in a February 25 post, so the change seems to fall around then. Only one post called the place expensive.
  • No post says they had to wait. One mentions a huge weekend-evening crowd, and another says it was packed but they went straight in because they had booked a room. Nobody says how long a walk-in waits. Four posts mention booking ahead.
  • Posts disagree on noise: one called it really loud, another said it wasn't too noisy.
  • On getting there from the subway: one post says you cross at the light outside the station and it's the building next to Lush; another says it's a bit of a walk from the station, on the main strip. The figure '483 m from Hongik Univ. Station exit 9' is copied from the listing.
  • Six visit posts list opening hours, all copied from the listing. They mostly agree on 6 pm to 2 am on weekdays and a 5 pm start on Saturday. Sunday is split: two say 5 pm, three say 6 pm, and one says 6 pm every day. The split doesn't follow the dates.
  • Five posts give the same phone number, 0507-1303-5582. Most people booked through Naver, and one post says ID is checked at the door.
