CHIMNEY MANSION
침니맨션 Chimni Maensyeon Chimney Mansion — the shop is built around the story of a family of chimney sweeps, a European luck symbol, and sells chimney cakes (Czech trdelník).
Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →
Chimney Mansion is a bakery café selling chimney cakes (Czech trdelník) from a detached two-storey red-brick house on Jandari-ro 6-gil in Seogyo-dong, between Hapjeong and Hongik University stations. You pick cakes from the display by the door with a tray and tongs, pay for them with a drink at the counter, and sit on either floor, cutting the cake with the scissors they hand you. Cakes run from 3,500 won (sea salt) to 6,500 won (the chimney sandwich), the ice-cream versions are 7,500 won and an americano is 5,000 won. We read 30 posts from December 2024 to October 2026; 22 are records of an actual visit. We set aside five that were about other places and did not count three that were lists or write-ups without a visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Thirteen posts mention outdoor seating as a terrace and two call the same space a rooftop. Nobody says they actually sat out there — it rained, or it was too hot — and one post thought it looked neglected because no one uses it in the heat.
- Seven posts say it is one drink per person: you cannot just sit with a cake, each person orders a drink, and drinks run 5,000 to 6,000 won.
- Eleven posts note that a Naver receipt review or a Google Maps review earns a free basic chimney cake. Two show the one they got, and both got the sea-salt cake.
- Fourteen posts call it roomy, with plenty of space between seats. Two are mixed: one says there are lots of seats but the tables are not far apart, the other says seats are generous but there are not many of them.
5 more
- Five posts found it quiet, all on weekday daytime visits or right after opening. One post found the ground floor full around 3 pm and went upstairs.
- Eight posts mention big windows and window seats looking onto trees; one says the upstairs outdoor view is of the residential street.
- Two posts mention a weekday-evening random box for 10,000 won. One saw a notice for four pieces from 6 pm until sold out; the other bought one at closing time and found six inside.
- Six posts went with friends and two with a partner; others saw plenty of people working alone on laptops.
- Four posts walked from the subway: about seven minutes from Hapjeong exit 3, nine or so from Hongik University station. One says Hongik University station is not that close and the Seogyo-dong bus stop is nearer.

Parking

Two posts say in their own words that there is no parking. The tip about the nearby Samyun private lot at 4,000 won for the first hour is copied from listing info, and some of those copied blocks say parking is available, so they conflict. No post says they actually parked.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

21 of the 22 visits describe the upstairs too. Downstairs is the display, the counter, a long chimney-shaped metal table and sofas; upstairs has sofa corners draped in white fabric and big group tables. Some posts repeat the shop's story that the upper floor is where the family does its laundry and relaxes.
There is no basement: three posts describe walking straight into the ground floor of a two-storey house.
No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pram gets in — we simply do not know. The chimney-shaped passage at the entrance means stooping, so people go round it to the side, and several posts climbed stairs to the upper floor. Nobody mentions a lift.
Six posts place the toilet inside, on the ground floor beside or behind the sofa seating; one adds that it was clean.
Three posts say the toilets are separate for men and women.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- None of the 22 visits mentions queuing. One post warns of long weekend peak-time waits, but it records no visit, so we did not count it. We do not know what weekend afternoons are like.
- Cleanliness is mixed: two posts found the toilet clean, one found the sofa throws visibly stained.
- Nineteen posts give the same hours — 11:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, 10:00 to 21:00 at weekends — and two say it never closes. All of these are copied from listing info rather than checked on the spot.
- Two posts found the prices reasonable; one called them a bit high but the americano fair. With one drink per person, a cake and a drink usually come to 9,000–11,000 won. Four posts put the latte at 5,500 won and one at 5,000 won.
- No post says whether they take reservations. Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1447-6011.
- Seven posts repeat the same keyword phrases in their titles and text, and only one of them discloses sponsorship (via Supermembers). They do describe real visits, so we counted them, but they may come from the same campaign.
- One list post cites a licence record giving an opening date of 29 May 2025, but another post describes a visit on Christmas Eve 2024, so the date does not fit. We do not know when it opened.
