Baengnihyang
백리향 Baengnihyang (百里香) is the Korean name for thyme, literally 'a scent that carries a hundred li'; one post explains the name that way.

A Chinese restaurant run by an ethnic-Chinese family, at the far end of the food street in the Mecenatpolis mall that connects to Hapjeong station, by the Homeplus entrance. It serves jjajang, jjamppong and fried rice alongside larger dishes like sweet-and-sour pork and scorched-rice soup. Prices we saw: seafood jjamppong and seafood fried rice at 10,000 won and small sweet-and-sour pork at 20,000 won in January 2025, and shredded-pork jjamppong at 11,000 won in May 2026. We read 16 posts from October 2024 to October 2026; six describe eating here, between January 2025 and May 2026. We set aside nine that only share the name, such as a rice-cake shop's 'Baengnihyang' gift box, the Baengnihyang in the 63 Building, and a neighbouring shop in the same mall.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Many of the writers are repeat customers. Three posts say this wasn't their first visit: one calls it their fourth, one titles it a place they keep going back to, and one came back two weeks after a seafood ganjjajang to try the shredded-pork jjamppong.
- The sweet-and-sour pork arrives with the sauce already poured on. All three posts that ordered it say so, and two of them say the batter stayed crisp regardless.
- The chili ganjjajang is hot; the shredded-pork jjamppong is not. Both posts that ate the chili ganjjajang called it spicy, and one recommends the plain or seafood version if you can't handle heat. The one post that had the shredded-pork jjamppong said the broth wasn't spicy.
- There are private rooms. One post, from a group of four who booked a room for 5 pm, says the rooms are partitions that open into the next one, so you hear the neighbours; it also describes the full main hall as noisy as a market.
2 more
- One post gives a full bill: four people, six dishes, three noodle or rice plates and drinks came to 289,000 won, which the writer thought cheap for a restaurant in this mall. The others list only individual prices.
- Two posts describe the walk: take the passage between exits 9 and 10 of Hapjeong station into Mecenatpolis, follow the food-street signs to the very end, and it's on the left. One post states it's on the first basement level.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 1 of 6 posts |
|---|
No one says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. It's inside a mall, but that tells us nothing either way.
No one mentions where the toilet is, whether it's inside the restaurant or the mall's shared one, or whether it's separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 7 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Two posts say the restaurant used to be in Yeonnam-dong, on the Yeonhui-dong border, before moving to Mecenatpolis; a third repeats this as something it was told. No one says when it moved. Every post we read is about the current location, including one whose first visit was in late 2024.
- Five posts give the same hours: 11:00 to 21:00 with a 15:00 to 17:00 break, last orders at 14:30 and 20:30 (two posts). It closes on the first and third Mondays and the second and fourth Sundays of each month, so the closing day shifts by week. Most of these are copied from posted information, so check before going.
- No post mentions waiting. One found it full around 2 pm on a Sunday and another found the hall packed when leaving. That isn't evidence there's no wait; nobody wrote about it.
- Two posts went with friends and one with a partner, but none with family or children; we don't know about high chairs.
- One post booked ahead, for a private room; the same post's copied info says courses, groups and rooms need a phone reservation. The phone number given is 02-336-7227.
