Korean

Ateuseupeiseu Uwol

아트스페이스 우월 Uwol is written 牛鉞 on the house's booking card — 'cow' and 'battle-axe' — and reads like the Korean word for 'superior'; 'Art Space' points to the gallery-like room with artworks on show.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Artspace Uwol is a Hanwoo beef omakase on the ground floor of a building up the Wausan-ro 29ga-gil slope from Hongik University Station. There are only two set courses: eight courses at lunch for 78,000 won and ten at dinner for 98,000 won. You sit at a long bar, and staff grill the beef on a burner in front of your seat and plate it for you. Between the grilled cuts come a chard-leaf dumpling, sesame udon, a cheeseburger (dinner only), and beef-tartare bibimbap with radish soup. Most people went for a birthday or an anniversary. We read 30 posts from June 7 to October 9, 2026, and 29 of them describe actually eating there.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't grill anything yourself: 19 posts say staff cook the meat on the burner in front of your seat. People keep mentioning the same steps. The day's cuts are shown before cooking, the meat is rested, and it is cooked to the doneness you ask for. One writer noted that a single staff member looks after you from start to finish.
  2. The seating is all bar (counter) seats: 11 posts say every seat is at the bar, and one wrote that 'most' seats are, which leaves it open. A group of four found it a little awkward for talking together. Two posts said the bar chairs were wide and comfortable.
  3. One bottle of wine comes in free of corkage: 12 posts mention it, and several people bought a bottle nearby and had staff open or chill it. Most say it is one bottle per party, red or white only, while two say one bottle per two people. Three posts put other spirits at 50,000 won a bottle, and three say you don't have to order a drink.
  4. Most found it filling: 10 posts say they were full by the end, some leaving part of the burger or the bibimbap. One said the amount of meat itself was not large and that 98,000 won did not feel fair. Another found the meat portions teasingly small but was full after the whole course, so we counted that one as undecided.
2 more
  1. Nine posts call the staff friendly, with concrete reasons. Side dishes were refilled before anyone asked, the tartare and even the quail egg were cooked for a guest who can't eat raw food, and a family that noted they were bringing a child got a call the day before to check the child's age. One post disagreed, saying the server seemed listless.
  2. Seven posts walked from the station. The walk from Hongik University Station was given as 7, 8, 10 and 15 minutes. Four posts mention a slope on the way up that made the walk a bit tiring.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot4 of 28 posts

The restaurant has no parking of its own. Four posts say from experience that you have to park elsewhere, and two of them drove and used nearby paid lots such as Hongik University's Hongmungwan garage. The 'no parking' line and the lot prices that many posts list are copied listing information, which we did not count.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms2 of 28 posts

Only one post mentions the floor from experience, saying the place is on the ground floor and easy to find. Apart from the '1F' in the address, no other post mentions floors or stairs.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance or about getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that it's fine or a problem. Two posts did say the door is very heavy to open, and four mention a slope on the approach.

Two posts say the toilets are outside the restaurant, just to the right as you go out the door. Both describe them as separate for men and women and clean, and one more post found them roomy. Nobody mentioned an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No one wrote about waiting. Twenty posts booked ahead, and three found it quiet on a weekday or felt they could have walked in. One post found the room full of reservations at 7 p.m., so we can't say whether walking in works.
  • Prices were the same in every post from June to October: 78,000 won for lunch and 98,000 won for dinner. Drinks and extra meat cost more. One group of four paid 507,000 won for dinner with extra sirloin and rib-finger and three zero-sugar colas. Six posts thought the price reasonable and one thought it too high.
  • Most posts list the hours as 11:00 to 22:00 daily with a 15:00 to 17:00 break, but nearly all of them copied a listing. Two give 12:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 22:00, and one puts the break at 15:00 to 16:00. Only one post says the restaurant is open every day of the year. One post gives booking slots of 12:00 to 1:30 at lunch and 6, 7 and 8 o'clock at dinner.
  • More than ten posts give the phone number as 0507-1465-1516, and one gives a different number. Most people booked through Naver or CatchTable. One post copied a rule that bookings can be changed or cancelled up to two days ahead. Birthday or anniversary messages have to be requested when you book.
  • Even within the same months, posts describe the course a little differently. Most list marinated brisket as the last meat at dinner, but three had galbi-marinated skirt instead. The beef's aging time is given as 20 days in four posts, four weeks in one and two months in two, and one post had doenjang stew instead of radish soup. The differences don't follow dates, so we treat them as variation, not as changes.
  • Three posts end with the same five hashtags, but they come from CatchTable's listing card pasted whole, and all three describe their own meal, so we counted them. Two other posts share the same opening and closing lines, yet each has its own details, like arriving late or how many people shared the seating, so they count too. The Blue Ribbon award and the 'spacious, refined space' line are the restaurant's own billing, and we did not use them as evidence.
