798 Hwaro is a beef grill half a floor below street level in an alley off Wausan-ro 29ma-gil, a short walk from Hongik Univ. Station. Every table gets its own palm-sized charcoal brazier and you grill a piece or two at a time. Single cuts run 16,000 won per 100 g for rib finger, 14,000 for chuck flap and 12,000 for top blade, with 4,000-won doenjang stew and 6,000-won spicy beef ramyeon on the side. The A set was 42,000 won until early October; its contents and price changed in mid-October (see below). Dinner only. We read 30 posts, dated August 7 to October 21, 2026, and all 30 describe an actual meal.

What sets it apart
- This is a place people come to grill beef alone: seven posts were solo meals, one writer calling it her first time eating barbecue by herself. With a brazier per person and 100 g portions, one solo diner ordered two cuts and left full. Four posts came as couples, one with a friend, one with a sister.
- It's a walk from Hongik Univ. Station: ten posts say it is close, giving 2, 2, 3, 5, 5 and 8 minutes. One spells out the route from Exit 8 down the alley beside Gong Cha.
- Eight posts describe it as calm rather than the usual loud barbecue hall; one says the next table's conversation never got in the way. Low lighting comes up alongside.

You go down a short flight of stairs to a half-basement. Seven posts say so, one of them in so many words: follow the stairs down. One post alone calls it ground floor.
No post mentions entering with a wheelchair or stroller. Posts say you take stairs down, but nobody says whether there is a ramp or another way in — we don't know, which isn't the same as there being none.
The restroom is inside the restaurant, five posts note, and two of them say it is shared by men and women. The only mention of separate restrooms comes from a copied listing.

What we do not know
- Prices: the set menu seems to have changed in October. Posts up to October 3 list the A set at 42,000 won (chuck flap, top blade, rib finger), B at 47,000 and C at 59,000; an October 17 post has A at 52,000 won for 300 g with Korean-beef sirloin, and an October 21 post has a 400 g B set discounted from 65,000 to 62,000 won. No post reports a change in single-cut prices. One post puts a meal at 20,000-30,000 won per person.
- Nearly every post here follows one template. Thirty arrived within two and a half months, five on the same day twice, and almost all repeat the same lines about celebrity visitors, long years in Hongdae and a kind owner, in the same order. Only one discloses sponsorship; another says it came by a lucky opportunity, and one says only the extra chuck flap was paid out of pocket. Twenty-one posts praise the staff, but don't weigh that at face value.
- No post reports waiting. One found the room full, another got in on a weekday evening and was glad there was a seat. Booking shows up only as a copied note that Naver reservations work; no one says they booked.
- Four posts say corkage is 10,000 won a bottle and free if you spend 35,000 won per person, but all are passing on what they were told; nobody brought a bottle.
- Hours: 22 posts list 17:00-23:00 with last order at 22:30, all copied from the listing; one gives last order as 23:30, and one says there is no closing day. Phone: several posts give 0507-1362-0798, and one copied note says phone booking is possible.
