Sinsagol Gamjatang Gyodae-jeom

신사골감자탕 교대점 Gamjatang is a pork-backbone stew; the brand writes the first syllable as 辛 ('spicy'), so Sin-sagol plays on sagol, a long-simmered bone broth — Gyodae-jeom simply means the Gyodae branch.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Gyodae branch of a gamjatang (pork-backbone stew) chain, on the ground floor of the Hongin Building at 33 Saimdang-ro, Seocho-gu, between Gyodae and Nambu Bus Terminal stations. Solo diners come at lunch for an 8,500-won bowl of bone hangover soup; families and office groups come in the evening to simmer a pot of stew (small 26,000 won) on a tabletop burner. Rice comes as yellow turmeric rice, and several posts say white rice is available on request. Many posts call it 24-hour, but some say it closes Sunday night to Monday morning. We read 30 posts dated 5 September 2025 to 14 October 2026: 26 describe a visit, 2 only introduce the place, and 2 were about other restaurants and were set aside.

Rows without a count: 2 of 11 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Every post from September 2025 to September 2026 gives the bone soup at 8,500 won, and fourteen posts call it cheap. One parent and son paid exactly 17,000 won for two. Rice is extra with the stew: one couple's small pot came to 31,000 won with two bowls of rice and fried rice. One post notes the same soup is 10,000 won on Coupang Eats delivery.
  2. Fifteen posts say the portions are large. Seven counted the bones in the soup: five found three, one 'three or four', one four. One writer couldn't finish; another stayed full until 7 p.m. Two posts note the meat is almost all lean, which disappoints those who like some fat.
  3. Ten posts topped up side dishes from the self-service bar. The set is radish kimchi, soy-pickled onion and radish, hot and mild green chillies and dipping paste; one post lists mustard sauce, ground perilla, scissors and disposable gloves at the bar too. One diner who asked staff for more got it once, with a polite request to use the bar next time.
  4. Five posts say food comes fast: under five minutes, about five minutes, 'the soup arrives as soon as you sit'. One adds that outside the rush it takes under ten minutes.
4 more
  1. It fills up at lunch. Two posts mention waiting: one from November 2025 says there is always a line but it moves fast; one from April 2026 says it's packed after 11:30, so go early or late. One September 2026 post differs, saying that even at peak a seat almost always opens up. Nobody recorded how many minutes they waited.
  2. Eight posts call the room spacious, though one adds that neighbouring tables sit close and you need care getting in and out. One post explains that tables with burners are for the stew and those without are for single soups; another counted about seven solo seats.
  3. Three posts went alone, three with family, two with colleagues or a group, one with friends. More posts than that remarked on how many solo diners they saw.
  4. Five posts found no porky smell. The '100% domestic fresh backbone' line is the restaurant's own slogan, copied into posts, so we don't count it; one post saw the origin board listing bones, rice and radish as domestic.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 26 posts

We know little about parking. One post says 'park wherever you can'; another lists lack of parking as a downside. Lines like 'no dedicated lot' and 'paid parking in the building' come from copied info blocks, which we don't count.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 26 posts

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that there is a problem. One post says it sits at street level on the main road.

One post says the toilet is inside the restaurant (a copied info block says the same). Nobody said whether it is split by gender or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Spiciness is split: two posts found it hot (the braise builds heat as you eat), one found the stew not spicy at all, and one called it mildly spicy without settling.
  • No post describes the actual walk from the station. The '460 m from Nambu Bus Terminal exit 1' and 'about 500 m from Gyodae exit 14' figures are copied from map listings.
  • Eleven posts give the hours as 24 hours, but not every day: three say it opens at 9 a.m. on Mondays, two say it closes at 10 p.m. on Sundays, and one added a question mark to that. Read together, it is closed from Sunday 10 p.m. to Monday 9 a.m. Three say there is no day off. Most of these hours are copied info blocks, and one listing of 'Mon–Sat 00:00–24:00' doesn't fit with the others.
  • Many posts copy the phone number 0507-1427-4242, but none says whether it takes reservations.
  • Three posts from 4 to 12 May 2026 repeat the same lines — domestic fresh backbone, house-made radish kimchi, turmeric rice, all-company-run branches. None discloses sponsorship; the 4 May one describes no actual visit, so we didn't count it as one. A POS vendor also posted a promotional install case for the restaurant on 12 May.
