Seocho Jeonggye

서초정계 Seocho is the name of the neighbourhood; the posts never explain Jeonggye, and the house cooks nothing but chicken dishes.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

A chicken house on the ground floor of the Mido Building on Beobwon-ro 1-gil, a short walk down an alley from exit 8 of Seocho Station, opposite the Seoul Bar Association building. The mainstays are dakhanmari, a whole chicken served fully cooked in an iron pot (30,000 won for two to three), and braised spicy chicken (32,000 won for two to three); at lunch there are single portions of boneless braised chicken (13,000 won, 17,000 as a set) and chicken noodle soup (11,000 won), which posts say suit people eating alone. Noodles (3,000 won) or porridge (4,000 won) can be added to the leftover broth. We read 29 posts from August 1 to October 25, 2026; one was an unrelated political column, so 28 are actual visits. Thirteen had the dakhanmari, nine the potato pancake and eight the single-portion braised chicken.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Sweet rice punch is free to pour yourself after the meal — 16 of the 28 posts mention it, several describing a dispenser by the door or counter, and one solo diner says the owner brought it over. Two posts also note that flavoured tea is served instead of plain water.
  2. Weekday lunch can mean a wait. Two posts waited: one joined the Tabling remote queue at a weekday lunch, and a regular says there is a big queue every time (though that day, a late lunch, she sat straight down). Seven posts walked right in — at weekday or weekend dinner, just after the afternoon break, or before the lunch rush. One post saw a covered waiting spot with tea on the left of the shop.
  3. You order from a tablet or kiosk at the table — seven posts say so, one adding that staff will take your order if you'd rather. One post notes you pay at the door on the way out.
  4. Order the porridge and the owner ladles off some broth and cooks it at your table — both posts that had it describe this, one noting it was done slowly and carefully.
2 more
  1. Six posts found the portions large: a couple too full after a dakhanmari to add noodles, and a family of three with chicken left over after a dakhanmari and the dressed chicken.
  2. Three posts came with children — one child finished a bowl of rice in the dakhanmari broth, others liked the chicken tteokgalbi. No one mentioned high chairs.

Parking

3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park3 of 28 posts

Parking accounts differ. Three posts say one or two cars can park in front of the shop, and one actually did so on a weekend evening; several copied info blocks say no parking and point to paid lots nearby. Either way, there are at most about two spaces.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 28 posts read)

No one said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pram gets in — that is unknown, not absent. One post notes the shop is on the ground floor.

No one said whether the toilet is inside the shop. Four copied info blocks list separate men's and women's toilets, but nobody described seeing them, so we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Heat is disputed: two posts found it spicy, four did not, one didn't decide. One put the hot single-portion braised chicken between Shin Ramyun and Buldak noodles; another found the same level not hot at all, and said the regular level was mild enough for a small child.
  • Nineteen posts give opening hours and they agree: daily 11:00–22:00, break 15:00–17:00, last order 21:00 — mostly copied from the shop's listing. One post says it opens every day without a day off; another was told the large braised chicken isn't served at lunch.
  • Prices disagree in a couple of places: one September post has the dakhanmari at 32,000 won against 30,000 everywhere else, and chicken tteokgalbi appears at both 8,000 (October 25) and 9,000 won (October 22). One pair paid 41,000 won for a dakhanmari with noodles and tteokgalbi. No one called it expensive; one called the 18,000-won dressed chicken outstanding value.
  • Eleven posts give the same phone number, 070-4354-0600. None confirms whether reservations are taken; several describe a Tabling waitlist at the door instead.
  • Many posts look written from one template: most October posts put the same 'Seocho Station Korean restaurant' keyword in the title and repeat the same lines about stock simmered in an iron pot every morning, a company-run chicken plant in Cheonan, and kimchi made daily from domestic chilli and cabbage. None discloses sponsorship, but we treat those lines as the shop's own claims and did not rely on them.
