Garden Poete
가든포에트 Gadeun Poeteu Garden Poete joins the English 'garden' with the French 'poète' (poet); one post read the name as 'the poet of the garden', and the place is a restaurant set in a garden.

Garden Poete is a Western-style restaurant with its own garden, up a sloping alley between Sangsu Station and Hongik University's main gate (12 Wausan-ro 14-gil, Mapo-gu). Pastas and risottos run 18,000–24,000 won and the chuck-flap steak 49,000–53,000 won; in the daytime it serves brunch such as French toast and eggs Benedict. Many posts describe birthdays, anniversaries and wedding-invitation dinners. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to September 2026; 21 were written after a visit. Of the rest, 8 were multi-restaurant roundups or information-only pieces, and 1 was about a French wine of the same name, which we set aside.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Twelve posts booked ahead, mostly through Naver or CatchTable; group tables and the garden annex are described as reservation-only.
- Five posts mention the annex cottage or private rooms in the garden. One group of six ate in the annex: it is separate from the main building, so it has its own call bell and an air-conditioning remote. The terms for using it are copied differently from post to post (minimum spend, per-person seat charge, room fee).
- Six posts went in groups of four or more (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, and a gathering of acquaintances); two of those were wedding-invitation dinners. One post says the dining room is mostly two-tops, with wooden group tables further in.
- Three posts mention the resident cat; one noted that the cat sitting on a table was real, not an ornament.
3 more
- Four posts from visits between December 2024 and January 2025 describe Christmas decorations in the garden and dining room: trees, string lights, a wine-bottle tree and a mirror photo spot.
- Six posts call something spicy, but only mildly: the grilled chicken diablo (three posts), the guacamole chicken waffle, a rosé pasta and the bisque pasta. One said the diablo wasn't very hot at all.
- Two posts arrived on foot: one walked about five minutes from Sangsu Station on a Friday, and a regular gives the way as the uphill alley between the CU and the Starbucks next to Far East Broadcasting.

Unusually for the Hongdae area, there is a lot right in front. Nine posts parked there or described it; the five that counted spaces said 5, 5, 6, 6 and 6. A long-time regular wrote that it is usually full, and one post said the restaurant covered an hour at a nearby lot when it was full (several posts copy a notice about a 4,000-won, one-hour credit at the Far East Broadcasting garage). One visitor, not knowing about the lot, parked near Hongik University Station and paid 35,000 won for just over three hours.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Floors: one post says they ate in the ground-floor hall. Upstairs rooms and a second-floor terrace house appear only in copied reservation notices; no one wrote about sitting upstairs.
Three posts say you climb steps from the parking lot up to the garden. The alley itself slopes; one visitor who walked up noted the incline.
No post describes entering with a wheelchair or stroller — that means nobody wrote about it, not that it's impossible. With three posts mentioning steps and an uphill alley, ask the restaurant whether there is a step-free route.
Restrooms appear only in copied notices (separate men's and women's restrooms inside). No visitor described where they are or what they're like.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post reports waiting. Three say they didn't: one walked in on a weekend without a booking and was seated right away, one arrived at opening to an empty room, and one with a weekday dinner booking wondered whether booking was even necessary. Still, one post found it full except for a few two-tops at 12:50 on a weekday, and another said it was nearly full after 6 pm on a Friday. Talk of weekend queues appears only in roundups and information posts.
- Opinions on portions split: two posts found them small (one said the lasagna was gone in a forkful), while one said the food was more filling than expected.
- Views on price split one each: one post found it a bit expensive, one said price was in balance with everything else, and one warned the bill can be a surprise. Menu prices changed during 2025: the diablo fell from 28,000–30,000 to 25,000–26,000 won and the lasagna from 27,000–28,000 to 24,000 won, while the steak rose from 49,000 to 53,000 won. No post totals what a meal cost.
- The bisque pasta appears with tiger prawns in posts through February 2025 and with langoustine from March. A July 2025 post notes the tiger-prawn rosé pasta became a plain shrimp rosé pasta, and a regular remarked that the menu seems to change periodically.
- Four posts saw the outdoor garden seating, but none clearly says they ate outside; posts mention rain, cold, or the terrace not looking ready as reasons for sitting indoors.
- All opening hours are copied, and they disagree. Nine posts give Monday and Tuesday as closing days, six give Monday only, one gives Tuesday, and one says no regular closing day. The afternoon break is listed as starting at 15:00, 15:30 or 16:00, and two posts list 11:00–22:30 with no break. Check with the restaurant before going.
- Nine posts give the phone number as 0507-1377-0887; two give 0507-1371-9369, and one roundup gives 010-6806-2025. Most bookings described were made through Naver or CatchTable.
- One visit post was written under a sponsored-review program, and two mention receiving a dessert for posting a review. Claims like 'filming location of Heart Pairing' or '300 pyeong of grounds' are hearsay and weren't counted.
