Oto Gimbap Sangsu Bonjeom

오토김밥 상수본점 Gimbap is the Korean seaweed-wrapped rice roll, and Sangsu bonjeom means the original (head) shop in Sangsu-dong; the posts do not explain what 'Oto' stands for.

A gimbap-and-fried-chicken counter near Exit 2 of Sangsu Station. You order at a kiosk, help yourself to broth and soy-wasabi sauce at a self-service corner, and bus your own tray. The combi set of one roll plus chicken bites was 11,000 won in two April 2026 posts. We read 10 posts from 30 March to 5 October 2026; 8 of them describe actually eating here.

Rows without a count: 2 of 4 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ordering is by kiosk, as five posts noted; one said mobile payment isn't accepted and the payment window timed out while they dug out a card.
  2. Seating is bar-style, per three posts — one described counter seats facing the wall or the window. Two posts called the room small, and two noticed most diners were eating alone.
  3. The fried chicken is soy-glazed and comes with sliced fresh chili. All eight visit posts ate it and four called the coating crisp; one found it a little thicker than at the Sangam branch, and another got tired of it and suggested the small size.
  4. The rolls go light on rice and heavy on vegetables; three posts said so, one calling it diet-friendly.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 7 posts

We don't know the floor. The registered address says basement level 1, one post's location note says ground floor, and two posts mention sunlight or window-facing seats; nobody described going down or up stairs.

No post said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — that is unknown, not a no.

One post saw the toilet at the back of the shop (another copied 'toilet inside' from a listing). Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 9 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post mentioned staff, saying greetings weren't returned on the way in or out; the same post found the chairs a bit uncomfortable. No other post commented on staff.
  • One post saw a hand-washing sink by the entrance; another said the toilet is at the back and the wash basin is 'outside' — whether outside the toilet or the shop is unclear.
  • Three posts put it right by Sangsu Station, two specifying Exit 2 (one said a one-minute walk). Nobody described a bus route.
  • No post timed a wait. One said there's usually a lunchtime wait but they got straight in on a holiday; another said it is always busy when open.
  • Who people came with doesn't add up to a pattern — one post came alone, one as a party of three. Several called it good for solo dining, mostly from watching other customers.
  • Four posts all list hours of 08:00–20:00 with Sundays closed, but each copied it into an info block; none mentions a break or last order.
  • Three posts gave prices: the combi set at 11,000 won (two posts, April 2026) and 30,000 won for an assorted roll, small boneless chicken and a zero cola (one post, June 2026). That June post said chicken prices were above the Naver listing, and another noted prices differ by branch. No one gave a single-roll price.
  • Three posts list the same phone number, 02-6409-0118. Nobody said whether it takes reservations.
