Taeneung Gamjatang Nowon Bonjeom

태능감자탕 노원본점 Taeneung is the house's spelling of Taereung, the Seoul neighborhood of the national athletes' village where the shop says its pork-backbone stew (gamjatang) began; bonjeom means the original branch.

A pork-backbone house — stew, grilled ribs and braises — on the ground floor of the Daehwa Building, in the Nowon culture street just off Nowon Station exit 1. We read 24 posts from 13 August to 16 October 2026; 21 describe a visit. The most-ordered dish is the spicy cast-iron ribs (eight posts), with four posts giving 39,000 won for a medium. The seafood braise launched with chef Gang Le-o in September 2026 was eaten in seven posts, at 45,000 won for a medium. Eight posts ordered from a table tablet or kiosk; a free bowl of stew broth arrives first with any rib or braise order, and side dishes come from a self-serve bar.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Space is the most repeated point: sixteen posts called the room large or the seating plentiful, three of them noting a second hall further in. Three posts also mentioned seats set aside for solo diners.
  2. Waits vary. Five posts walked straight in — weekday evenings, the eve of Chuseok, a late lunch, a weekend at about 6 pm. One post waited about 20 minutes on a Friday evening, and another noticed waiting chairs set up outside.
  3. Four posts said food was slow: 20 to 30 minutes and over 15 minutes for the seafood braise, and a long wait for the stew. One post had the spicy ribs in about ten minutes.
  4. Heat is contested: seven posts found it spicy, three did not, and five landed in between. Three used Shin Ramyun as a yardstick — two said about that hot, one said milder. Three posts called the rib sauce sweet.
3 more
  1. Eleven posts found portions large and one found them small. Three people left some of a medium seafood braise; a pair found it more than enough; one post on the ribs said the quantity was simply too little. Three posts took leftovers home.
  2. Eight posts said it is an easy walk from Nowon Station — two to five minutes from exit 1; two gave the route down the alley by the KT shop, past a 7-Eleven, on the left corner.
  3. Four posts mentioned a review reward, but disagree on what it is: a drink or bottle of alcohol (two), a bottle of soju actually received (one), ice cream (one).

Parking

7 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot7 of 21 posts

There is no parking. Seven posts said so in their own words, pointing to public lots or paid parking at the Lotte department store; one noted an enforcement camera in front. Posts that only copied a 'no parking' info line were not counted.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Eight posts said it is an easy walk from Nowon Station — two to five minutes from exit 1; two gave the route down the alley by the KT shop, past a 7-Eleven, on the left corner.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 21 posts read)

Only one post described the floor from experience — a ground-floor corner unit. Otherwise we have only the address.

No post said whether the entrance has a step or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That means unknown, not absent.

One post copied an info line saying the restrooms are inside and gender-separated; no post described them firsthand. We do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Company: friends in four posts, a partner or spouse in three, family in two. One post came with children, and one noted children's chairs.
  • Opening hours agree across posts: fourteen say open 24 hours every day, four add a 5-6 am break. Most are copied info blocks; the one late-night visit found the inner tables being closed off.
  • Prices are consistent: ribs 39,000 / 52,000 won, seafood braise 45,000 / 59,000 won. The 2,000-won extra salad and 12,000-won potato pancake each come from a single post. No post judged the prices high or low.
  • Seven posts copied the phone number 0507-1362-8077. One post booked ahead and found a table reserved.
  • The chef-collaboration seafood menu arrived in mid-September 2026; the August post predates it, and many October posts went specifically for it. Four posts from 9 to 12 October end with the identical hashtag run and all ordered the new dish — none disclose sponsorship, but they may be commissioned.
