MUTAN

무탄 코엑스점 Mutan Koekseujeom

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

Mutan's COEX branch is a Chinese restaurant on the first basement level (unit H121) of Starfield COEX Mall in Samseong-dong. The dishes people come for are the steak truffle jajangmyeon (35,000 won, 27,000 for a half, 55,000 with six times the truffle), chilli yuringi (49,000 won) and the 'macaron' shrimp toast; you order on a tablet at the table. One couple paid 84,000 won for one platter and one bowl of noodles. We read 30 posts dated 2 January to 14 October 2026; 16 are first-hand meals. Nine are ranking or introduction pieces we did not count as visits, and five were about a neighbouring café, gelato shop or taco place, or about the Paju and Apgujeong branches, so we set them aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ten of the 16 visit posts call it expensive. One balked at a jajangmyeon costing over 50,000 won (the six-times-truffle version, 55,000), another worked the caviar shrimp toast out at 12,000 won a piece and called the price wicked. One post each ordered the 106,000-won couple set and the 152,000-won signature set.
  2. Nine posts found the portions large; one did not. One said a single truffle jajangmyeon was about right for three to share; another could not finish the beef sweet-and-sour and took it home. A takeaway container for leftovers costs 1,000 won, one post noted. The dissenting post felt the chilli yuringi was not that big.
  3. Waiting depends on the hour. Three posts waited: 20 to 30 minutes on a weekend evening, more than 40 minutes after arriving around 5:30 pm, and a short wait on a weekend evening. Two walked straight in, at 5 pm on a Sunday and early in the evening. A regular wrote that there had always been a queue until an early Monday evening. One post put its name down on the CatchTable kiosk at the door; two had booked ahead.
  4. Five posts mention the receipt-review offer: spend 80,000 won or more, post a review, and choose 10% off, a draught beer or a children's dish. Four took the discount; one stacked Naver and Google reviews for about 15% off.
3 more
  1. Four posts describe the room as spacious, one noting generous gaps between tables. Two mention private rooms — one says three, another that they are bookable for six or more.
  2. The chilli yuringi arrives under a heap of chillies, yet two posts say it is barely spicy. No post called it hot.
  3. Three posts say you order on the table tablet, which also carries the QR code for the review offer.

Only one post speaks from experience, saying the parking subsidy tied to the bill was welcome. The tiers — one free hour from 50,000 won, two from 100,000, three from 150,000 — appear in other posts as copied listing details.

Getting inside

In a basement3 of 16 posts

Three visitors note it is on the mall's first basement level. None described which corridor, stairs or lift they used to get there.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair got in. One family went with a baby but did not mention a pushchair. That means nobody wrote about it, not that access is lacking.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or whether it is separated by gender. We do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Staff impressions are split: two posts found them friendly, while one waited a long time for extra sauce and zha cai, asked twice for toothpicks in vain, and said they would use another branch next time.
  • No one described the walk from the station themselves. Lines such as '9 m from Bongeunsa Station exit 7' are copied from the listing, so we did not count them.
  • Nine visit posts give weekday hours of 11:00–21:30, and five give weekend hours of 11:30–22:00; last orders are listed at 20:30 on weekdays and 21:00 at weekends, with no break time and no closing day. All of this is copied from the listing, not observed at those times.
  • Six posts give the phone number 0507-1397-0364; one ranking post lists 02-551-7774 and one introduction post 02-551-1443. Several posts say reservations go through Naver or CatchTable.
  • The half-size leek-and-brisket jjamppong is 25,000 won in a July 2026 post (swapped to rice) and 27,000 won in a September post; we cannot tell whether that is a price rise or the rice option. An introduction post's figures (jajangmyeon 28,000–33,000, yuringi 38,000 won) match no other post, so we did not rely on them.
  • Of the nine list and introduction posts, three are ranking pieces with leftover review-count widgets or template tags; the Naver keyword tallies they quote, such as 'generous portions', are copied and were not counted.
