Raw fishKorean

Noryangjin Jeollado Hoeyangnyeom

노량진 전라도회양념 Jeollado is Korea's southwestern province and hoe-yangnyeom means the sauces served with raw fish — the name of a chojang-jip, a table-and-sauce restaurant upstairs in Noryangjin Fish Market.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A chojang-jip — a table-and-sauce restaurant — in unit 16 of the second-floor food court at Noryangjin Fish Market. You buy raw fish, crab and prawns downstairs, carry them up, and the house sets the table, steams or cuts them. Posts from November 2025 on give the table charge as 5,000 won a head (6,000 if you eat raw fish without the stew); earlier posts say 4,000. Steaming is 8,000 won per kilogram, cutting a snow crab or king crab 10,000 won each, and many meals end with 3,000-won fried rice in the crab shell. We read 30 posts from December 2024 to October 2026; 26 describe eating here. We set aside three that ate at a neighbouring restaurant or steam shop, and one that only recommends the place.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a queue. Twelve posts waited in line or saw a long one; three walked straight in. Recorded waits are 20 minutes, 30, over 30, an hour and an hour. Two posts gave up and ate next door instead. The three without a wait came on Chuseok, on a May weekend at opening of the rush, and in June outside yellowtail season.
  2. There seems to be no place to wait. One post noted there is no app-based queue, so they stood outside in the heat; no other post mentions a waiting area.
  3. Bookings are taken. Six posts went in on a reservation — one phoned on Monday for a room for nine on Wednesday, another had the fish vendor book the table for them. One post waiting in line watched reserved parties keep going in ahead.
  4. There are private rooms; three posts sat in one. One said the main hall is hectic and recommends a room for big groups; another warns rooms run out if you arrive late.

  1. Four posts describe the frontage and walls covered with celebrity signatures and photos; one went in because of them.
  2. You bring your own seafood, but not outside fried food. Five posts say so: three that it is not allowed, one that paid an 8,000-won fee and one told it was 10,000. The house sells its own (mixed tempura 25,000 won, fried squid 15,000).
  3. Two posts say tables are limited to two hours; one overstayed by ten minutes without being asked to leave, and another guessed the rule only bites when the room is full.
  4. Four posts found the food slow: two say crab is only steamed once you are seated and takes 20 to 30 minutes, one waited over half an hour for peeled prawns, and one advises ordering the stew mid-meal because it takes a while.
  5. A place for groups: eight posts came in parties of three to nine, seven with friends, three with family, one as a couple. One post was asked to share a four-seat table with another pair when it was busy.
  6. Five posts came by subway. Two say the market building is right in front of Noryangjin Station exit 9; one used exit 7 and the underground passage.

From the station

Five posts came by subway. Two say the market building is right in front of Noryangjin Station exit 9; one used exit 7 and the underground passage.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 26 posts

It is in the second-floor food court of the market building; ten posts went upstairs to eat. One gives the route: enter by South Gate 3, take the central escalator and turn right.

No post puts it below ground; ten say it is on the second floor, reached by escalator. None mentions taking a lift to this floor.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair. That means we do not know, not that access is impossible.

No one said whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or separated by sex; one post only remarked that it was better than expected.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Service splits by period. Two posts from June–July 2025 found the staff kind; three from September–October 2026 say staff were too busy to come when called. One found their crab sitting forgotten until they asked.
  • Opinions on price split. Two 2025 posts, from the 4,000-won period, found it cheap; three 2026 posts found it expensive, one complaining the table, steaming, cutting and cooking fees outweigh the seafood. What a meal costs depends on the seafood: one party of three paid 69,000 won to the restaurant alone, a party of six 170,000. One post from June 2026 still gives the table charge as 4,000 won, unlike the rest. One post had to have a wrong bill redone; another says they were never overcharged for drinks here.
  • Ten posts give the hours as 24 hours, every day of the year, but most are copied listings or hearsay; no one reports actually going late at night.
  • Four posts list the phone number 0507-1366-7995. One booked by phone, but another found that around year-end small parties of two or three are rarely accepted.
