Myeongsojip

명소집 Myeongso means a famous spot or landmark, and jip means house — roughly 'the landmark house'.

Compiled from 5 blog posts read in fullSources →

A large Korean barbecue house on Toegye-ro 20-gil, a few minutes from exit 3 of Myeongdong Station. The signature is beef short rib on the bone, seared over a straw fire, and staff grill it at the table from start to finish. We read 5 posts dated April 25 to October 13, 2026, and all five are from actual visits. The April post calls it newly opened. Short rib was listed at 37,000 won for 300g (April), 33,000 won for 210g (May) and 66,000 won for a 500g two-person portion (August and October). All five posts call the room spacious and pitch it for office dinners and groups.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All five posts say staff did the grilling. They cut the meat off the bone with scissors, cook it, and park finished pieces on a rack at the edge of the grill to keep them warm. One post said it let them focus on the conversation.
  2. All five posts say the meat arrives already seared, so it finishes quickly on the table grill. Four mention the smoky straw-fire aroma specifically.
  3. Two posts mention an outdoor terrace, and one was seated right next to it. Another visited on a rainy day when the folding doors were shut.

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 5 posts
Lift to the floor1 of 5 posts

Four posts describe seating upstairs. One climbed stairs to a second-floor dining room; another entered by the door on the right of the building and went up by elevator or stairs; another says there is seating on the third floor as well. One post, though, puts 30 tables on the first floor, so the posts disagree on which floor the main hall is on. Only one post mentions the elevator.

We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access. That doesn't mean there's a problem, only that no post mentions it. One post took the stairs and another mentions an elevator.

No post says whether the restroom is inside the restaurant or split by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Short-rib prices are hard to compare because each post ordered something different: 300g for 37,000 won in April, a 210g raw cut for 33,000 won in May, and a 500g two-person portion for 66,000 won in August and October. Since both the weights and the names differ, we can't tell whether the price went up. Only one post called it reasonably priced.
  • Four posts give the same opening hours, 11:00-21:30, but all of them are copied from the listing. Two give last order at 20:30, and only one mentions a 15:00-16:30 break. No post says which day it closes.
  • No post describes waiting for a table; one only says it was busy on a weekend evening. We don't know whether there's a queue. The note that group bookings are taken comes from a copied listing, and one post says the host asked whether they had a reservation.
  • Only one post says who they went with (university club friends); the other four don't say. The mention of high chairs comes from a copied listing, and no post describes visiting with a child.
  • All five posts push the same pitch (office dinners, groups, foreign tourists) and repeat the same hashtags, and two list corkage, high chairs and parking in the same format. None discloses sponsorship; one attaches a receipt and says the meal was self-paid. Three posts give the phone number 0507-1319-7449.
