Sotnaeeum Seoulyeok Namdaemunsijang-jeom
솥내음 서울역 남대문시장점 Sotnaeeum means 'the scent of the sot' — a sot is the heavy Korean pot that rice is cooked in, and here each bowl comes to the table in its own pot.

A rice-pot restaurant in the basement arcade of the Yonsei Severance Building, right in front of Seoul Station. More than twenty kinds of sotbap — rice cooked in an individual pot with a topping — come as a full tray with soup, kimchi, salted seafood and seaweed; you scoop the rice into a bowl, pour buckwheat tea into the empty pot, and finish with the scorched-rice tea. Prices run from 12,000 won (pork bulgogi, mala eggplant) to 19,900 won (eel), with the seafood-marinade set at 25,000 won and the double-meat steak at 25,900 won. We read 27 posts from 16 September to 14 October 2026; 26 are visits to this place (one was about a different barbecue restaurant in Noryangjin).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You order and pay on a tablet or kiosk at the table — 14 posts say so — and several note that the screen or a table card explains how to eat it: scoop and mix, pour buckwheat tea into the empty pot, finish with the scorched-rice tea. Every table has extra scorched rice and a seasoning soy sauce to add as you like.
- Nineteen posts mention free drinks: 15 describe plum tea set out by the exit, 2 found sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch) in the same spot, and 2 simply drank the buckwheat tea brought for the rice pot. Hair ties, wet wipes, fabric spray and sweets by the entrance come up again and again, and six posts mention a phone charger.
- You can reach it from Seoul Station without going outside: 12 posts describe the station's underground passage leading straight into the building, naming various combinations of exits 4 through 7. One walked from Hoehyeon Station exit 5; another got lost at first and advises taking the underground passage rather than the ground floor.
- For rice cooked in a pot, it comes fast: three posts say about ten minutes, under five to ten minutes, and right away. None say it was slow.

- There is a review promotion: 14 posts mention it, offering a choice of one peeled marinated shrimp, two potato croquettes, or a can of soda. Two posts got all three by reviewing separately on Naver, Kakao Map and Google. Two posts mention a stamp card — one stamp per 20,000 won, a free rice pot for ten.

Parking
1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Many posts say parking is in the building from the second basement down, with one hour covered — but mostly copied from the listing. Only one post says they actually parked and got the hour validated. One copies a rate of 5,000 won per hour beyond that; another says booking through Naver gets you a parking coupon.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station

Getting inside
| In a basement | 14 of 26 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 2 (of 26 posts read) |
| Separate restrooms | 1 of 26 posts |
It is underground: 14 posts describe taking the escalator down to the first basement arcade. One post alone says the second basement level.
No one mentions a step at the entrance, a ramp, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that there isn't one. Posts describe coming down by escalator from the subway; two pass on the advice to take the elevator up from the car park, but none say they used it.
The toilets are not inside the restaurant but are the building's shared ones on the same basement floor, as two posts note; one adds that they are separate for men and women and clean. Another post gives directions saying the restaurant is right next to the women's restroom.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Whether there is a lunch queue is unclear. No post says they waited to get in. One saw a line forming as they left around noon, four heard about or saw a lunchtime waiting list, one got a seat 'just barely' at 1 p.m. on a weekday, and one walked straight in. Nobody gives a wait time. There is a handwritten waiting list, and one post mentions seats for those waiting.
- Opening hours agree on weekdays (10:30–20:30, break 15:00–16:30) but split on Saturday. Seven posts say closed Saturday and Sunday, six of them from 9–14 October; eight posts (16 September to 8 October) say it opens Saturday — five until 20:30, three only 10:30–15:00. Posts from the same day in September disagree, so we can't tell when or whether it changed. All of this is copied from the listing; check before going on a Saturday.
- Prices are consistent across the September and October posts. No one calls it expensive; two say it is on the cheap side (one adding that the double-meat steak was the exception). Only the marinated shrimp side differs: 6,000 won in a September post, 5,900 won in October.
- Twelve posts give the phone number 0507-1301-5307. Several copy that Naver booking is available, and one post actually booked that way. The advice to phone ahead for groups of six or more is passed on from the restaurant.
- Only three posts disclose sponsorship, but nearly all carry the same five hashtags, walk through the review promotion, the scorched-rice ritual, hair ties and plum tea in the same order, and five went up on 16 September alone. It looks like a coordinated reviewer campaign, so lean on what the posts report — what's there, what it cost — rather than their praise.
