Dakjinmi
닭진미 Dak means chicken and jinmi means true flavor; most posts call it Dakjinmi Gangwon-jip (the Gangwon house), which one post says is its older name.

An old shop deep in Namdaemun Market's braised-cutlassfish alley, near Heerak, said to have been making chicken soup since 1962. The two dishes are dakgomtang, made from old laying hens, and gogi baekban, where the meat comes on its own plate; an April 2026 post put them at 10,000 and 11,000 won. We read 11 posts from April to October 2026. Three were about other places and were set aside, three describe an actual meal, and the other five are market round-ups or info pages.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The broth is lightly seasoned. Two of the three visit posts mentioned seasoning, and both said it was mild, one calling it a touch bland. Salt, pepper and chili flakes sit on the table for diners to adjust it themselves.
- Expect a wait at lunch. One visit post said even arriving early meant ten minutes or more, though the line moves quickly, and that while waiting you can watch staff stripping boiled chickens out front. A round-up post also warned of long waits, but it was not a visit, so we did not count it.
- One post said the dakgomtang holds a drumstick and roughly half a bird, and called the price around 10,000 won good value.
- Two of the three visit posts were by repeat customers. One was on a second visit and had come alone before. The other brought two colleagues to a place the writer already liked, ordering gogi baekban with makgeolli, and warned that the old-hen meat can feel firmer than expected.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Second floor | 1 of 3 posts |
|---|
There is upstairs seating. One post said the lunch rush moves fast because the shop runs to a second floor, and that on a solo visit the writer shared a table with an elderly stranger.
One post mentions upstairs seating, but no one said what floor the entrance is on or whether there is a basement.
Nobody mentioned steps, a threshold or wheelchair and stroller access, so we do not know. Nor did anyone describe how you get up to the second floor.
No post said whether there is a toilet inside or whether it is split by gender. We do not know.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 8 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opening hours: the two visit posts that give them agree on Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 20:30, closed every Sunday, but both put this in an info box that may be copied. A round-up post quoted the market's listing of 7:00 to 21:00 with the first and third Sundays off.
- Only one post, from April 2026, gave prices first-hand: 10,000 won for dakgomtang and 11,000 for gogi baekban. A round-up quoted 9,000 and 10,000 from a Siksin listing of unknown date, so we have not counted it as a price rise.
- Two posts list the same phone number, 02-753-9063. On booking, one info box says there is none and another suggests calling to ask; nobody we read actually made a reservation.
- Several posts say it is about 196 m from exit 5 of Hoehyeon station, but every one copies map data; nobody described the walk. They only say it is tucked inside the market alleys.
- On company, one post went with two colleagues and one writer had come alone. No one went with family or children, so we cannot say how that works.
