Aeni Tteokbokki
애니떡볶이 Tteokbokki is the Korean dish of rice cakes simmered in red chili sauce; the posts give no meaning for 'Aeni'.

A snack stall-shop inside Namdaemun Market (Namdaemunsijang 4-gil 12, near the hairtail-stew alley). Its trademark is thick rice-cake tteokbokki topped with seasoned shredded radish: 5,000 won a portion, with fritters at 1,500-3,000 won each, sold two at a time. There are no proper seats — you eat at a standing counter inside, out on the street, or take it away. A second branch operates at Namdaemun-ro 16; this page covers the original. We read 31 posts from 26 February to 16 October 2026, 22 of them from people who actually ate here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect a line. Twelve posts say they queued; the waits they recorded were 10 minutes (weekday 11 a.m.), 10 minutes (weekday 1 p.m.) and 15 minutes just to order fritters on the Saturday before Chuseok. Turnover is quick because many people take away or eat and move on, and one post warns that the line starts at the order point and cutting in draws glares. One visitor at 5 p.m. on a substitute holiday found only a short line.
- This is not a sit-down place. Nine posts say they stood or found nowhere to sit: inside there is a single standing counter for roughly 8-10 people, and otherwise you eat on the alley with a tray. Some waited outside for a counter spot; one says the owner assigns spots. Only one post (September 2026) says it sat down comfortably inside. A July 2026 post noted air-conditioning, a fan and a water dispenser at the back.
- Posts talk about the fritters more than the tteokbokki. Ten say the batter is crisp, and twelve ordered the squid. One explains that fritters are par-fried and fried again when you order; another says the crowd means they come out practically fresh from the oil. Dipping them in the tteokbokki sauce is the repeated tip.
- The sauce leans sweet: nine posts say so, some crediting the radish for it. One post disagreed, liking that it was not very sweet.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
2 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post says which floor the shop is on or mentions stairs — nobody wrote about it, which is not the same as there being none.
No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We only know the inside is narrow and long, with standing room.
No post mentions a toilet. We do not know.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Heat is disputed: five posts say it is mild (one compares it to the mild version of a common instant ramen), four call it spicy, and one lands in between. Slightly more say it is milder than it looks.
- On price, two posts say it is not cheap for market tteokbokki, one says it is easy on the wallet, and one says the fritters cost a bit more but are bigger. Five posts put the squid fritter at 2,000 won; one September post says 2,500.
- Whether wheat tteokbokki is still sold is unclear. A July 2026 post says only rice cakes are offered now; two September posts list wheat at 4,000 won, though one of them copied the menu information. We cannot tell which is current.
- No one checked the opening hours first-hand. The Mon-Sat 08:30-18:30, closed Sunday figure is copied from Naver, with a note that it can change when ingredients run out. One visitor found it opening only after 9:30 on a weekday morning, which does not match. Two posts found it open on public holidays.
- Two posts give the phone number 02-3789-1623, but none says they called or whether booking is possible. It is a stand-in-line shop, and we do not know about reservations.
