Nomal Kichin
노말키친 The name is simply the English words 'normal kitchen' written in Hangul; no post explains why it was chosen.

A small Italian place in a converted red-brick house painted green, down an alley opposite Sungkyunkwan University's main gate. Pastas, pizzas and risottos mostly cost 16,000 to 20,000 won, and many couples split one pasta and one pizza. Seating is mostly two-tops plus a curtained or walled-off four-top at the back; each table is pre-set with a rosemary water bottle and pickles. We read 30 posts from February to October 2026; one was about another restaurant and one was a single entry in a listing, leaving 28 visit posts.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Eighteen posts describe it as quiet. A group of five at an engagement dinner wrote that they could barely hear the other tables, and several note that with only about five tables it never feels crowded. Nobody wrote that it was noisy.
- Five posts describe the back four-top as being like a separate room; one says it is not a room but feels set apart. It has no door, just a curtain or a wall corner, and one post mentions a call button there for summoning staff. Two posts that counted the seats found two four-tops and three two-tops.
- Eight posts say the room is small and none say it is big; one adds that the tables are well spaced even so. That is where the repeated advice to book ahead for evenings and weekends comes from.
- Six posts say they booked ahead, via CatchTable or by phone. One party of nine booked and split across two tables; another arrived around 7 pm on a Friday to a full room and was glad they had a reservation.
5 more
- Four posts say staff bring a basket or make room for bags when you sit down, and several mention coat hooks by the tables.
- Five posts say a set of pasta plus steak or pizza and two drinks takes 3,000 won off. Four mention a free drink for writing a receipt review, and two a free garlic bread for subscribing to the shop's Naver alerts.
- Sixteen posts say the food is not greasy, often crediting a touch of chilli even in the cream, rosé and Toowoomba dishes. Twelve call dishes spicy and two say they are not; most of the twelve say mildly or moderately.
- Six posts say it is good value, noting that almost nothing is over 20,000 won and putting that down to the university neighbourhood. No post says it is expensive.
- Ten posts went as a couple, the most common case; three went with family, two as a group and two with friends.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

The 'no parking' line in many posts is copied listing data. One post actually drove: there was no space at the shop, so they used the Sungkyunkwan wedding-hall car park about two minutes' walk away.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
9 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 3 (of 28 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 28 posts read) |
No post describes the floor or any stairs from experience; only the address says ground floor.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. That means we don't know, not that it is impossible. One post went with a child but says nothing about a pushchair.
Three posts say the toilet is outside the dining room, through a small door to the right of the entrance. One says it is unisex, and two say it is roomier inside than the tiny door suggests.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nine posts say it is easy to reach by subway or bus, most giving about a ten-minute walk from Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station; one mentions the Sungkyunkwan main-gate bus stop. One post warns the alley can be hard to find the first time.
- Little is written about waiting. One post saw people queuing in the evening; two walked straight in on weekday evenings at 7 and 5:30. One mentions a waiting bench. No post gives a wait time.
- Opening hours appear in 26 posts, mostly copied from the listing. Twenty-three agree on daily 11:30 to 21:00, a 15:00 to 17:00 break and last orders at 20:00; two give 11:00 and one 11:20 as the opening time. One post says the shop never closes, another that closing days vary.
- Prices were mostly stable, but the mushroom cream pasta was 18,000 won in a February 2026 post and 19,000 won in October. A new lasagna (22,000 won) appears from October 2026. Lower prices in a listing post, such as 17,000 won for the Manjo pizza, are copied data and are not used.
- Many posts give the phone number 0507-1316-3899. Bookings go through CatchTable, and posts copying the listing say no deposit is needed.
- Three posts disclose sponsorship and one was a reviewer-programme visit. Several October posts carry the same three hashtags in the same order and repeat the phrases 'quiet Hyehwa' and 'Hyehwa blind-date spot', which looks like commissioned copy; we still counted them as visits because each records different dishes, prices and seats. The 'Italian cuisine excellence' award plaque in the shop is the shop's own display and is not used as evidence.
