Deungchon Syabu Kalguksu Myeongdong-jeom
등촌샤브칼국수 명동점 Deungchon is the name of a neighborhood in western Seoul; shabu kalguksu is a shabu-shabu hot pot finished with knife-cut noodles, and this is the chain's Myeongdong branch.

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu's Myeongdong branch is on the third floor of Myeongdong-gil 56, just below the cathedral. You pick one of three mushroom broths — spicy, clear or perilla — at 12,000 won a head (24,000 for two), and add a plate of shabu beef for 12,000 since the pots come without meat. Minari and mushrooms go in first, then the beef, then knife-cut noodles; finally staff take the pot to the kitchen and return it as fried rice. We read 31 posts dated January 5 to October 20, 2026. Four were about other branches or other restaurants, four were lists or copied listing data, which left 23 actual visits to count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Soft drinks are free. Of the 23 visits, 20 mention a self-serve soda dispenser at no charge — one lists six choices including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Lime, Chilsung Cider and Mountain Dew, and another went to order a cola before finding out it was free. Several also mention plum tea and green-grape candies by the exit.
- Space is rarely a problem. Sixteen visits called the room large and twelve called it clean. Three mention a separate room (one says it seats eight), two more describe a half-enclosed area, and three mention big windows looking down on Myeongdong's main street.
- Expect a wait at lunch. Seven visits report a queue: one regular says 10 to 15 minutes at noon, another says never more than five, one saw two parties ahead, and one weekend-lunch visitor joined the Tabling queue and shopped while waiting. One evening visitor found it quiet, and another walked straight in at 6:30 on a weekday evening. Four mention waiting seats at the entrance.
- You order on a tablet at each table — five visits say so. One notes the call button lets you pick a request such as water or fried rice, and another mentions a language button. Two say the noodle pots start at two portions.
3 more
- Kimchi and extra broth are self-serve — nine visits mention refilling them. Several also mention a house sauce found only at this branch, described variously as peanut-chili, mala-peanut or sriracha-mayo.
- Many diners are tourists: six visits say they saw foreign visitors eating at nearby tables.
- Of those who said who they went with, five went as a couple, two with friends and one in a group of four; one drove.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 7 (of 23 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Lift to the floor | 6 of 23 posts |
It's on the third floor, not underground, and there's a lift. Seven visits describe going up to the third floor, six of them by elevator. Posts say there is a supermarket on the ground floor.
Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post pasted an amenities list claiming wheelchair-accessible entrance and toilet, but that is listing data, not experience, so we don't know.
No visitor described the toilets — whether they're inside the restaurant or separated by gender. A copied listing says they are separate; we didn't count it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Three visits say it's an easy walk from the subway — four to five minutes from exit 8 of Myeongdong Station, or under ten from Myeongdong or Euljiro 1-ga. The oft-repeated '353 m from exit 8' is copied map data.
- Fourteen visits list the same opening hours, 11:00 to 22:00 daily, twelve of them with last orders at 21:00 — but all but two copied this from the listing, and no one mentioned a closing day.
- Prices were stable from January to October 2026: 12,000 won per person for the broth and 12,000 for beef, so two people with one beef plate pay 36,000 — several posts give that total. One post alone quoted 11,000 won and a 32,000 minimum for two, and the beef weight is given as 180 g in four posts and 200 g in two.
- Most posts give the phone number as 0507-1340-2341; one gives 02-318-2341. Whether you can book is unclear — copied listings disagree — but several posts say you can join the queue remotely through the Tabling app.
- It's unclear when the free drinks began. A September 30, 2026 post says they were new since the writer's visit a month earlier, yet posts from August 16 and 17 already mention them. The January 2026 post doesn't mention drinks at all, which doesn't mean there were none.
- Many posts share stock phrases and an identical hashtag set, suggesting commissioned content; only two disclose sponsorship and one says the writer paid. We counted them where they record an actual meal, but didn't treat their praise as evidence.
