Wangbijip Myeongdong 2-hojeom
왕비집 명동2호점 Wangbi means a queen consort and jip means house — 'the Queen's House'; this is the chain's second Myeongdong branch.

Wangbijip's second Myeongdong branch is a charcoal-grill meat restaurant on the second floor of 13 Myeongdong 9-gil, across from Hadongkwan. Charcoal goes into each table and staff grill the meat for you. Of the 10 posts that actually ate here, seven had the marinated pork (24,000 won per 230 g) and two had the four-cut pork platter (43,000 won for two). Most followed the meat with doenjang stew or cold noodles (9,000 won). We read 30 posts dated 30 May to 15 October 2026; only those 10 were visits to this branch. The rest covered other businesses in the same building, the separate Wangbijip main branch or Hansik Wangbijip, or had nothing to do with the restaurant, and we did not count them.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Staff do the grilling — nine of the ten visit posts say so. One notes that marinated ribs burn easily and the server kept turning them while watching the coals; another says the server explained each cut while grilling. One diner on a hot day asked for both portions to be cooked at once so the coals could be taken away.
- Six posts say many of the other diners were foreign tourists — foreign families around 7 p.m. on a weekday, a foreign party at the next table with mostly non-Korean staff, and one blogger greeted in English at the door.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

The restaurant is upstairs; five posts describe going up to the second floor. One warns the street entrance is small and easy to walk past; another went up by the stairs and saw celebrity autographs and photos halfway up.
We don't know about wheelchair or stroller access. The restaurant is on the second floor and one post walked up the stairs, but nobody mentions whether there is a lift or a step at the entrance.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Much of what is written about this branch looks like commissioned copy: seven of the ten visit posts end with the same two English hashtags, and two describe the interior in identical sentences. One post discloses sponsorship and one says it was a reviewer invitation; the other eight say nothing. Read the uniformly warm praise with that in mind.
- Posts disagree on the marinade: three call it sweet, two say it is not sweet (one adds not salty either).
- Only one post mentions waiting: arriving around 7 p.m. on a weekday, it says a roughly 20-minute queue formed right after it was seated, and there was a waiting area with a fan. The others don't mention waiting at all, which tells us nothing either way.
- Few posts say who they came with: two with family (a sibling, a child), one with friends, one by car. Nobody says whether it suits a solo diner.
- All opening hours are copied from listing blocks. Six posts agree it closes at 22:40, but four say it opens at 11:20 and two at 11:00; four give last orders at 22:00. No post mentions a closing day.
- Menu prices from a July 2026 menu photo match what diners paid. Two people eating pork spend about 48,000 won for two portions of marinated pork plus rice (2,000 won) or stew; Korean-beef cuts run 43,000–62,000 won per 140 g. One post found 2,000 won for rice a bit steep.
- Two posts give the same phone number, 0507-1313-1946. One says bookings are taken through Naver and Catchtable, and one blogger who booked ahead was seated straight away.
