Udaepo Beullaek Myeongdong-jeom

우대포 블랙 명동점 Black marks this as the premium line of the Udaepo grill brand, separate from the plain Udaepo branch in Myeongdong; Myeongdong-jeom simply means the Myeongdong branch.

A charcoal beef grill on Myeongdong 7-gil, between Myeongdong and Euljiro 1-ga stations, taking up a whole multi-storey building. The signature diced striploin is 39,000 won a portion; the beef set for two to three (striploin, short rib, marinated rib finger and dessert noodles) is 105,000 won. Staff usually grill at the table, and meals end with cold noodles or doenjang rice stew. We read 22 posts dated 17 January to 31 August 2026; 19 record an actual meal. Four disclosed sponsorship, three said they paid themselves, the rest said nothing.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Of 11 posts that described it, 9 say a server or the owner grilled for them; one noted they cooked two portions at once and parked them at the edge, and planned to ask for one at a time next visit. Two posts differ: a February lunch visitor wrote that at the busy hour the staff mostly grilled for group tables, and a January post said the server only started the meat and they turned it themselves.
  2. The diced striploin comes in thick cubes: 6 posts remarked on the thickness, and one counted 16 pieces per portion. One warned that the fire is strong, it burns quickly, and overcooked it turns a little tough.
  3. 11 posts said the beef was juicy. Many suggested trying it first with salt alone; several mentioned a soy dipping sauce and wasabi served alongside.
  4. There are private rooms: 4 posts saw them or ate in one. The phrases 'the only private rooms in Myeongdong' and 'eight separate rooms' recur word for word across posts as the restaurant's own copy, so we did not count them.

  1. It is a short walk from the subway: 8 posts said about five minutes on foot from Euljiro 1-ga or Myeongdong station. Several placed it near Myeongdong Cathedral and the Myeongdong Theater.
  2. 5 posts noted many foreign diners; others mentioned snacks and goods sold at the counter aimed at tourists.

There are floors above the ground-floor hall: 6 posts saw or sat on an upper floor, one was led to a second-floor table, and another described a staircase to the second floor lined with liquor bottles. The ground floor is an open hall that one post found busy with company dinners.

No post says whether there is a step at the door, whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in, or whether there is a lift; one mentions stairs to the second floor. That is unknown, not absent.

Only one post covered the toilets: inside the restaurant, separate for men and women, and clean. Which floor, and whether there is an accessible toilet, is unknown.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-01-172 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • 5 posts called the staff friendly. One differs: a February lunch visitor reported too many missed orders and mistakes.
  • Opinions on price split: 1 post found it expensive, 2 called it good value, 2 said not cheap but fair. Several pairs were full on the 105,000-won beef set, so dinner for two runs a little over 100,000 won.
  • 4 posts went with a reservation. Three posts list the same phone number, 0507-1408-5566. The free birthday cake for groups of ten or more booking ahead is restaurant copy repeated across posts.
  • No post mentions waiting. But two who booked for around 7 pm (one on a weekday, one on a Friday) found the place nearly full, and a lunch visitor said tables filled quickly. That does not mean there is never a line; nobody wrote about one.
  • Opening hours come only from copied info lines. Two January 2026 posts gave 11:00 to 02:00 (last order 01:00); posts from late February to August agree on 11:00 to midnight daily, last order 23:00. No post mentions a closing day; check before going.
  • The same lines recur across these posts: 'the only private rooms in Myeongdong', 'birthday cake for bookings of ten or more', 'corkage allowed'. Many end with an identical set of eleven hashtags; two posts from 17 January share five hashtags and contain only praise, no dishes or prices, so we did not count them as visits. Posts from 24 and 25 January list the same seven dishes in the same order. Only one post actually brought its own wine.
  • There is a separate Udaepo branch in Myeongdong without 'Black' in its name; one post warned not to confuse them. This page covers the Black location at Myeongdong 7-gil 12.
