Sotgojip Myeongdong-jeom
솥고집 명동점 Sot is a cast-iron cauldron — here its lid, the sotttukkeong, is the grill — and gojip means stubbornness; the house's own line is 'right thinking, right stubbornness'.

A cauldron-lid pork belly house on the second floor of 55 Myeongdong-gil, across from Myeongdong Cathedral. The meat arrives robot-seared or fully cooked, and staff fry kimchi, minari and bean sprouts in the pork fat on the lid. March 2026 posts ordered the thick-belly set at 75,000 won; June posts ordered the cauldron-lid set and egg-crust set at 99,000 won, with stews at 11,000 won. Lunch brings rice-and-stew dishes such as duruchigi and kimchi stew. We read 21 posts from 5 February to 8 October 2026; 12 of them (17 March to 17 June) record an actual meal. Two posts about other branches (Isu, Gongdeok) were set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You do not grill here. Eight posts said the meat came seared or fully cooked, and several explained that the 'AI' on the menu means a robot does the searing. Six posts said staff set up the lid and fried and cut the kimchi for them. Three posts noted the exception: the egg-crust set has to finish at the table.
- Space is what people mention most: 11 of the 12 meal posts called the room large, four mentioned a private room, and four mentioned window seats or full-height glass looking down on the street. One post booked a lunch for nine; another guessed the room could seat 60 to 80.
- A row of phone chargers waits at the entrance; six posts mention it, one saying there seemed to be enough for every customer. Several posts said side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar.
- Five posts noted many foreign diners — one saw them arriving steadily at 4 p.m., another said they outnumbered Koreans.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

It is on the second floor, not a basement: nine posts said so, and one said there is no elevator — you take the building stairs.
No one wrote about wheelchair or stroller access or a step at the door. One post said the only way up is the stairs, with no elevator.
No meal post said whether the restroom is inside the restaurant. 'Separate men's and women's restrooms' appears only in one copied info block, so we do not rely on it.
No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 19 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-09-17 | 2 posts in one day |

| 2026-02-05 | 3 posts in one day |
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Two posts described walking from the subway: one from Myeongdong Station exit 6 past the Noon Square junction toward the cathedral, the other noting it sits midway between Euljiro 1-ga and Myeongdong stations. No one mentioned buses.
- One post waited — about 10 minutes on a full weekend evening. One post mentioned a waiting area on the second floor. Two posts that went early evening or at 4 p.m. found it quiet, and three booked ahead. No one described a weekday lunch rush.
- Three posts went with friends, two as a couple, and one was a nine-person work lunch. No one brought children, so we know nothing about high chairs and the like.
- Six posts give opening hours of 11:00-23:00, but last order splits: 22:30 in three posts, 22:00 in one. One post says it opens on Sundays too. Most of these times were copied from info blocks.
- On price, March 2026 posts list the thick-belly set at 75,000 won and June posts list the cauldron-lid and egg-crust sets at 99,000 won; the sets differ, so we cannot say prices rose. No one called it expensive, and two posts said it was good value. No one worked out a per-person cost.
- Several posts give the phone number 02-772-9202. Three posts booked ahead, including a lunch for nine, but none said how they booked.
- Four posts from 5-6 February 2026 share five identical hashtags, give no prices or menu details, and one names dishes this place does not serve; we did not count them as meals. Six posts from 14-17 June share stock phrases but each records its own order and prices, so we counted them. Four of the twelve meal posts disclose being hosted or sponsored.
