Myeongdong K Galbi

명동케이갈비 Myeongdong Keigalbi Myeongdong is the Seoul shopping district it sits in, the K stands for Korean, and galbi means beef short rib — the house's signature is marinated Korean-beef short rib.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Korean-beef galbi house on the second and third floors of a building on a side street between Euljiro 1-ga and Myeongdong stations. A 150 g portion of marinated short rib is 25,000 won; it is grilled in the kitchen, not at the table, and arrives in a brass bowl kept warm over a small flame. Alongside come three kinds of Hamheung-style cold noodles (pollack 14,000 won; broth or beef-shank 13,000 won) and a 10,000-won tray of handmade dumplings, and a two-person set of 300 g rib plus two noodle bowls is 76,000 won. Nine posts say you order on a tablet at the table. We read 25 posts dated 7 August to 13 October 2026; 24 of them describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't grill anything yourself: 14 posts say the short rib arrives fully cooked, several add that a low flame under the bowl kept it warm to the last piece, and one notes the kitchen is on the third floor and sends food down by dumbwaiter. One post says the rib has a two-portion minimum.
  2. Thirteen posts found the room full of foreign visitors; one estimated seven foreigners to every three Koreans, another saw only foreign guests that day. Several mention four-language labels on the sauce bottles and sign.
  3. Seven posts found the portions large. Two people ordering two rib portions, two noodle bowls and a dumpling tray felt it was food for four; another said it would feed three. One post says a single noodle bowl is a full meal.
  4. Family meals are the most common: eight posts came with parents or children, four with kids, often saying it was easy because nobody had to grill. Three came as a couple and three with friends.

  1. Six posts mention a free tray of dumplings (worth 10,000 won) for writing a Naver receipt review — worth keeping in mind alongside the many near-identical posts below.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 23 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 7 (of 23 posts read)
Lift to the floor5 of 23 posts
Toilet inside1 of 23 posts

The entrance is on the second floor. Ten posts went up to or place the dining room there, five mention an elevator, two walked up the stairs, and one advises taking the elevator because it is about three flights.

We don't know about steps at the door or wheelchair and stroller access — nobody wrote about it, which is not the same as there being a problem. Five posts mention an elevator.

Only one post saw a restroom sign inside the dining room and a per-floor restroom map on the tablet; another found the restroom clean. Separate men's and women's rooms appear only in a copied info block, so we don't count it.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Twenty-two posts landed between 2 September and 13 October 2026, and many repeat the shop's own copy word for word (no-MSG marinade from a Joseon cookbook, rare beef shank, the master sikhye maker). One post discloses sponsorship, one is a contractor who was treated to the meal, one says it paid its own way, and the rest say nothing. We do not rely on the shop's claims about beef grade or MSG.
  • Whether the marinade is sweet is split four to four: four posts call it sweet-salty, four say it is not overly sweet — one writer's sugar-averse mother said she liked that it wasn't sweet.
  • We know little about waits. One post booked through Naver and saw a queue form right after arriving; another arrived at the 11 a.m. opening and was second in. Nobody gave a waiting time. Two posts went with a Naver reservation.
  • Seventeen posts list hours; sixteen say 11:00–22:00 daily with last order at 21:00, one says it closes at 21:00. Most are copied info blocks; two note there is no afternoon break. Twelve posts give the phone number 0507-1326-1108, and bookings are taken through Naver.
  • Prices are consistent across posts (25,000 won per 150 g of rib, 13,000–14,000 won for noodles, 10,000 won for dumplings). Two posts found it pricey, three called it good value; one couple paid 86,000 won for the two-person set plus dumplings.
