NEUNG RA DO

능라도 명동 Neungnado Myeongdong Neungrado is an island in the Taedong River in Pyongyang; the chain named itself after it for its Pyongyang-style cold noodles and northern dishes.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

Neungrado Myeongdong is a Pyongyang-style cold-noodle restaurant on the third floor of the Olive Young building at 53 Myeongdong-gil. It is a branch of the Neungrado chain, whose flagship is in Pangyo; people come for buckwheat naengmyeon and bibim noodles with dumplings, mung-bean pancake and boiled beef, or a shared eobok jaengban hot pot. We read 30 posts dated 30 November 2025 to 7 October 2026; 11 describe actually eating here. We set aside 9 that were about other branches or other restaurants, and did not count 10 that were listicles, templated posts or a duplicate.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is roomy. Six of the eleven visit posts said the dining room is large. One mentioned a high ceiling and generous spacing between tables; two noted single seats for solo diners, and one a separate room for groups.
  2. The bibim noodles are spicy. Two of the three posts that ordered them said so; one writer who cannot handle heat found them hard to eat.
  3. You can book. Two posts said they reserved ahead, and one noted that Naver booking is available.

One post explained that you enter through the door to the right of Olive Young and take the lift up, with waiting chairs right outside the lift. Three visit posts placed the restaurant on the third floor.

No one said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether they came in with a wheelchair or pram. One post only mentioned taking the lift to the third floor.

One post said the toilets are inside the restaurant, separated by gender and clean. No other post mentioned them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 18 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-185 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one visit post gave a price: dumpling soup at 17,000 won on 31 December 2025, which the writer found steep. No visit post priced the naengmyeon; we did not rely on the 17,000 won figure copied into listicles.
  • No post mentioned queuing. That does not mean there is never a wait, only that no one wrote about one. One post said the dumpling soup arrived about ten minutes after ordering.
  • Walking times from Myeongdong and Euljiro 1-ga stations appear only in copied info blocks; no one described actually getting there by subway or bus.
  • On company, only three posts said they came with friends. No visit post mentioned family or children; one said it is easy to eat alone.
  • Two posts gave the same opening hours, 11:00 to 21:30 with last order at 20:30, but both copied them from the listing. No post mentioned a closing day.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1338-3989 in two visit posts and 02-771-3989 in two listicles. Three posts said reservations are possible.
  • Three posts published on the same day, 18 August 2026, follow the same script in the same order: the surprising third-floor room, the picture windows, copper-plate bulgogi, dumplings and mung-bean pancake, the eobok jaengban at the next table, and none gives a price. A fourth post that day, listing roomy seats, kiosks and a serving robot, reads the same way. We did not count any of the four as visits, so their claims about the windows and quiet are not used here.
