Eulji Dongaseu

을지돈가스 Eulji is taken from Euljiro, the downtown street and district the name points to, and donkkaseu is the Korean word for a breaded pork cutlet.

An old-style Western-diner cutlet house on Myeongdong 9-gil, between Myeongdong and Euljiro 1-ga stations. The signature cutlet is 14,000 won, the spicy and curry versions 15,000 won, and sets with tteokbokki or cold noodles 18,000–19,000 won. Soup and a roll come first, rice and side dishes are self-serve, and you take a slush on the way out. We read 15 posts from 30 August to 22 October 2026: 9 are real visits, 2 only describe the place, and 4 turned out to be about other businesses.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All nine visits called the crust crisp, including one that had the sauce poured on and said it stayed crunchy anyway. Thickness is disputed: three posts found the meat thin, one thick, one 'not too thin'.
  2. Expect to wait at lunch. Five posts say they waited: one arrived at 11:34 on a weekday, was seventh in line and sat down about 14 minutes later; another came at 11:00 to an empty room but said the line forms after noon. You join the list at a machine by the door or on CatchTable. One post walked straight in at 18:30 on a weekday, just before the room filled. One noted that you wait outside.
  3. Six posts mention free mango or grape slush, plus job's-tears tea, hot chocolate and coffee, set out by the entrance to take with you as you leave.
  4. Three posts ordered from a table tablet or kiosk, and several note you choose at ordering whether the sauce comes poured on or on the side. One timed the cutlet at four minutes from order.

  1. Four posts call the portions large. Rice isn't served on the plate; you take as much as you like from the self-serve bar, which three posts singled out.

Where it is

Map showing where Eulji Dongaseu is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 9 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 9 posts

No one described the floor or any stairs from experience; the only clue is '1st floor' in the address.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That is a gap in the record, not a no.

Two posts say from experience that the toilet is inside, and one that it is split by sex; the other mentions are copied listing info, which we didn't count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • A post from 3 September 2026 compared it with a visit a year earlier (October 2025) and noted that water, broth, rice and sides had since moved to a self-serve bar. Only this one post mentions the change.
  • The distances from Euljiro 1-ga exit 5 (280–288 m) and Myeongdong exit 6 (220 m) are copied listing details; nobody described the walk.
  • Several posts say it would suit kids, but none actually went with children or family. Of the visits, two went as a couple and two with co-workers at lunch.
  • Four posts call something spicy, but not the same dish: tteokbokki twice, the spicy cutlet once, the curry once. Another post that had the spicy cutlet found it milder than billed.
  • Six posts give the same opening hours, daily 11:00–22:00 with last order at 20:40, but all are copied from the listing. One post's 11:00–20:30 with a break and Sunday closing came with a different address (Namdaemun-ro 88), so we don't treat it as this shop's hours.
  • Prices mostly agree, except the cutlet-and-cold-noodle set: 18,000 won in three posts, 19,000 won in one from 28 September 2026. Three posts called it good value.
  • Three posts list the phone number 0507-1470-9972; another number, 02-777-1335, appears alongside a different address. Bookings are said to go through CatchTable or Naver, and one post copied a note that reservations open only after 1 p.m.
  • One blog posted two write-ups on the same day from the same template (price list, Q&A, 'also searched' links), one about this shop and one about another; the one about this shop records no visit, so we didn't count it.
