DIN TAI FUNG

딘타이펑 명동점 Dintaipeong Myeongdongjeom Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐) is the Taiwanese xiaolongbao chain; one post glosses the name as 'a large, bountiful cauldron'.

Compiled from 6 blog posts read in fullSources →

Din Tai Fung Myeongdong is the Taiwanese dumpling chain's branch on the second floor of the Hotel28 building at 13 Myeongdong 7-gil. Visitors build meals around xiaolongbao and share dishes such as shrimp fried rice, beef noodle soup, dan dan noodles and guobaorou; three of the seven visit posts ordered a seasonal set. On price, one post says to budget 50,000 to 60,000 won for two, and another says Set 2 in the autumn 2026 promotion cost 115,500 won instead of 129,000. We read 22 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 14 were about other Din Tai Fung branches (Taipei, Kaohsiung, Gangnam, Gimpo Airport) and were set aside. Of the 8 about this branch, 7 describe a visit, all written between July and October 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts came with family and one with a friend. Two brought children, and one of those says there was plenty of room even with a stroller. Two describe Chuseok family meals, one adding so many à la carte dishes to a set that the table filled up.
  2. Two posts describe the glass-fronted dumpling kitchen, with steamer baskets stacked high and cooks folding dumplings non-stop.
  3. Two posts asked for more sides: one calls the branch a zhacai favourite and always asks for extra mid-meal, the other asked on behalf of a hungry nephew or niece and says the staff kept refilling without end.
  4. Two posts say they did not wait: one walked straight in at lunch around Chuseok, the other booked ahead and found the room nearly empty. A third says the large hall fills up at lunchtime. No post records a wait in minutes.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 6 posts

One visit post says parking is out of the question. A June 2025 listing claims a dedicated car park, but it contradicts the visit post and is copied rather than observed, so we didn't count it.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 6 posts read)
Step-free access1 of 6 posts

Two posts note the restaurant is on the building's second floor, not below ground.

No one says whether the second floor is reached by lift or stairs, or whether there is a step at the door. One post brought a stroller inside; beyond that we simply have no reports.

No post mentions the toilets, so we don't know where they are or whether they are separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 7 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post recommends public transport. The '5 minutes from Euljiro 1-ga Station exit 6' line comes from a copied info block, so we don't rely on it.
  • Four visit posts list hours of 11:00 to 21:00 daily, three with last order at 20:10, but all in copied info blocks. No visit post mentions a break time or closing day.
  • One post calls it fairly expensive, and another says the xiaolongbao portions are too small. Single-dish prices appear only in a June 2025 listing (6,500 won for four xiaolongbao); no visit post gives one, so current à la carte prices are unknown.
  • Two phone numbers appear, 0507-1496-2780 and 02-3789-2778, each in a single post, so we can't say which one takes reservations. One post did book ahead.
