Bakery

Boulangerie Copain

블랑제리코팡 Beullangjeri Kopang Boulangerie Copain is French: a boulangerie is a bakery and copain means friend, which one post renders as 'a bakery like a friend'.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A European-style bakery at 115 Huijeong-ro, Mangwon-dong, on the walk from Mangwon Market to Mangwon Hangang Park. There is nowhere to sit, so you pick your bread and take it away — many posts carried it to the river. Of 26 visits, 13 bought the Valrhona chocolate baguette (7,000 won); a croissant is 4,500 won, the mini brioche loaf 4,500, sandwiches 5,500–7,000. We read 30 posts from 7 September to 19 October 2026; dropping 2 about other shops and 2 that only described the place leaves 26 visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Takeaway only: 18 visitors wrote that they carried their bread out, and 5 said outright there is no seating. Baguettes are not on display — you ask at the till — and most posts say the baguette, chocolate baguette, campagne and basil crunch can be sliced for you (one post lists only the first three). Bags cost 50 won (plastic) or 100 won (paper).
  2. A time sale starts at 7 p.m. every day. Eight visitors saw the notice, and all give the same terms: 20% off over 20,000 won, 30% off over 30,000 won (one adds that seasonal items are excluded). A 14,000-won mixed bag of the previous day's bread is also mentioned, but nobody bought one.
  3. Nobody called it expensive. Five posts said the prices were good for the quality (one singled out the 3,500-won salt roll), and one called the list prices ordinary. Posts that totalled their haul paid 22,800 won for four items and 25,500 won for four or five.
  4. You can see the bakery at work from the shop floor — five posts mention it, including a deck oven and proofers behind the till and staff assembling sandwiches in a corner. Two posts found the shop smaller than they expected.

  1. It is a walk from the subway: seven posts describe the route, 10–20 minutes (about 967 m) from Mangwon Station exit 2. One visitor came on the Mapo 16 bus and recommends it — the Hwapyeong Church stop is right outside.
  2. Five posts found the staff kind — one said they offered to slice the bread before being asked, another that they explained the menu patiently.

Parking

1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park1 of 26 posts

Parking accounts disagree. One visitor stopped briefly out front without trouble; another says the paid lot by the shop rarely has space and the public lot is better; a third parked at Mangwon 1-2 public lot and found it a fair walk. The copied info blocks variously say paid parking, a brief stop at the kerb, or no parking out front — we did not rely on them.

Where it is

Map showing where Boulangerie Copain is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

It is a walk from the subway: seven posts describe the route, 10–20 minutes (about 967 m) from Mangwon Station exit 2. One visitor came on the Mapo 16 bus and recommends it — the Hwapyeong Church stop is right outside.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

Only one post mentions the floor: it says the shop is on the ground floor. No one else says.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a stroller or wheelchair fits. One post mentions an automatic door; nobody mentions steps, a threshold or a ramp — that means no one wrote about it, not that there is none.

No post mentions a toilet. As a takeaway-only shop, we don't know whether there is one for customers.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No one reported a queue; two weekday daytime visitors bought straight away. What runs out is the bread: sandwiches sold out by 4 p.m. for one visitor, most items were down to one or two by 5 p.m. for another, and evening visitors found the popular items gone. Nobody wrote about weekend waits.
  • Few posts say who they came with: family in three (two with a child), a friend in one. One family came by car.
  • Two posts say pets must wait outside; other mentions come from copied info blocks.
  • Seventeen posts give the same hours, 10:00–22:00 daily, but all copied from info blocks rather than first-hand. Several add that it may close early when sold out; two say there is no regular day off. One post noted a Chuseok closure on 25–26 September 2026 and says closures are posted on Instagram and Naver. Baguettes come out at 10 a.m.; other bread can be bought before that.
  • Prices are nearly identical across the September–October 2026 posts and we found no change over time. A single post differs on two items: basil crunch at 5,500 won (others 6,000) and fig financier at 4,500 (others 4,200).
  • Most posts list the phone as 0507-1337-0434; one writes 0433. One copied info block says reservations and group orders are taken, but nobody wrote about booking by phone. One visitor suggests calling ahead to check stock if you want something specific.
  • Sponsored posts are mixed in. One says it was an invited review; another shares its hashtag line and info block word for word, so it looks like the same campaign. Two more copy the shop's own blurb about a hotel-trained baker. Most of the 30 posts appeared within two weeks in October under near-identical search-keyword titles. The TV appearance, hotel background and Paris baguette contest are the shop's own claims, repeated by bloggers, and we don't count them as evidence.
