VERY KITCHEN

베리키친 Beri Kichin Beri-kichin is the Korean spelling of 'Very Kitchen'; the sign over the green door reads simply VERY.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Very Kitchen is a fusion restaurant at 205 Mallijae-ro, a short walk from Exit 15 of Seoul Station, in a 1920s stone building with a green door. Every dish is named after a place — the Mallidong tomato kimchi-jjim, the Jeju mackerel oil pasta and the Valencia polpo come up most. In 2026 posts the mackerel pasta is 22,000 won, the polpo 29,000 and the kimchi-jjim 24,000; most diners shared two or three plates over wine or beer. Posts from 2026 give the hours as Monday to Saturday, 17:30 to 23:00, closed Sundays; posts up to June 2025 describe weekday opening at 11:00 and a lunch set. We read 30 posts from March 2025 to October 2026; 6 were about the separate Gangnam branch and were set aside, and 22 of the remaining 24 record an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Eight posts say they booked, mostly through CatchTable; one was told a 15-minute grace period applies. Two say they did not wait — one walked straight in on a booking, the other got the last free table without one. Two found the room already full around 6 pm on a Saturday.
  2. Four posts mention outdoor seating in front. A September 2026 post says there are only two tables on the deck, so they phoned ahead to ask for one, and adds that smoking is not allowed outside either. An April 2025 post describes drinking wine in the sun under the awning.
  3. Four posts call the room spacious and two do not; both of the latter came from busy evenings in February 2026, one saying they had to squeeze between tables to reach their seat. Quiet splits the same way, four to two — one post noted the sound system by the door playing loud music.
  4. Three posts say the food came quickly, nearly all at once; one says the salad arrived after the other plates.
2 more
  1. Two posts found portions on the small side (the kimchi-jjim, the spinach risotto) and one found the mackerel pasta generous. One group of three felt three plates was too few; a group of four found five plates just right.
  2. Two posts say there is a time limit when the room is full; one gives it as two hours. The same post says outside food is not allowed, but they were able to bring in a birthday cake.

Parking

The 'no parking' note is almost always copied from the listing. The one first-hand account drove there, found no lot, and parked at the Son Kee-chung public car park.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 22 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 22 posts

No post describes the floor or any stairs from experience; only the address says ground floor. We don't know.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there is no barrier — nobody wrote about it. We don't know.

Two posts confirm the toilet is inside the restaurant. One says it is separated by gender and clean; the other warns it is very small with a low ceiling, so mind your head.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The hours have changed. Posts from April–June 2025 list weekdays 11:00–23:00 with a 15:00–17:30 break and Saturdays from 17:30, and two describe eating lunch or brunch there. Posts from 2026 agree on Monday–Saturday 17:30–23:00, last order 22:00, closed Sundays, mostly copied from the listing. One gives last order as 22:30, and one January 2026 post says they went on a Sunday evening, which contradicts the closing day. Check before you go.
  • Prices have risen. The polpo went from 28,000 won in May–June 2025 to 29,000 in 2026, and the mackerel pasta from 21,000 to 22,000. The kimchi-jjim was 22,000 won on a late-2024 visit and 24,000 from May 2025. Two posts called the prices steep; one said it is not that expensive.
  • Several posts say corkage is allowed, but none says it is free; the 30,000-won-per-bottle, two-bottle limit is copied from the listing. The 'free corkage' promotion belongs to posts about the Gangnam branch and is not counted here.
  • Posts about the Gangnam branch (2F, 551 Eonju-ro; six posts from June–July 2026) were not counted. They share near-identical wording and order, and one discloses sponsorship. Their parking, weekday daytime hours and QR ordering do not apply to this location.
