Ttosunine

또순이네 Ttosuni is a Korean nickname for a tough, thrifty, hardworking woman, and -ne means 'her place'; the posts describe this as the Magok branch of Yangpyeong-dong's long-famous doenjang-stew house.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

Ttosunine sits on the ground floor of Ace Tower 2, a short walk from exit 7 of Magok Station, and the posts describe it as the only directly run branch of the Yangpyeong-dong original. At lunch it serves doenjang stew with rice for 7,000 won, two portions to a pot, kept bubbling on a tabletop gas burner; in the evening you must order beef such as hanger steak or sirloin to get the stew. We read 30 posts from March to October 2026; 16 describe eating here. We set aside 12 about the original branch, a nearby pork restaurant and a same-named place in Jeonju, and did not count 2 that were lists or could not be placed.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Lunch and dinner work differently. The stew on its own is available only until 2 p.m.; three posts said that in the evening you must order meat to get it. One family arrived at 2:05 and the owner served them the lunch stew anyway.
  2. Four posts found the stew salty, one saying she drank two bottles of water afterward. One post, comparing it with the original branch, found the Magok stew not salty. A March post advised turning off the burner partway, since it gets saltier as it boils down.
  3. Most posts did not wait. Three said there was no line: around 11:30 on a weekend, 1 p.m. on a Saturday, and after 1:30 on a Sunday. One post arrived around 11:30 and saw a line form after three more groups came in. One post said reservations are not taken; you write your name and party size on a list at the door.
  4. Seven posts called the stew cheap for what it is. On the meat, one post first thought the price high, then noted a portion is 200 g.

  1. Six posts called the room clean: a new building, wood-and-modern fit-out, a high ceiling. One post counted roughly 18 four-person tables and 4 two-person tables, and noted high chairs for babies.
  2. Five posts went with family — a wife and sister-in-law, a younger brother, parents with a baby. One went with colleagues and one ate lunch alone.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 14 posts read)

Two posts said it is on the ground floor; one said to skip the building's main entrance and take the passage on the left to find it.

We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — not because there isn't access, but because no one wrote about it. One family brought a baby but didn't describe the way in.

We don't know whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or separated by gender; no one mentioned it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 16 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on portions: one found it generous, two found two portions a bit small or the take-home pack small. Three said the rice is generous. One felt the Magok stew had less meat than the original's.
  • Two posts said you grill the meat yourself; one said the first meat order must be at least two portions.
  • Seven posts give opening hours, nearly all copied from listings: 11:00–21:30 in five, until 22:00 in one. The afternoon break varies — 14:00–17:00 in three, 15:00–17:00 in two (one from a photographed sign), 16:00–17:00 in one. No one mentioned a closing day.
  • Two posts give different meat prices: in September 2026, 34,000 won for hanger steak and sirloin and 39,000 for unmarinated sirloin; in October, 36,000, 35,000 and 40,000. With only two posts we do not call it a price rise. The 7,000-won stew is the same in every post.
  • Only one post gave a phone number (0507-1363-2773), and the same post said reservations are not taken. We could not confirm either from other posts.
  • Posts about the Yangpyeong-dong original turn up mixed with these. The original has charcoal, two floors and its own lot; Magok posts describe gas burners, one floor and the building's basement garage. We did not count the original's posts.
