Grill house

Butaya

부타야 Butaya is Japanese for a pork shop: buta means pig and -ya means shop, as one diner noted.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Butaya is a charcoal pork grill on the ground floor of Pine Square building B, 22 Magokjungang 4-ro in Gangseo-gu, a short walk from Magok Station exit 4 and the One Grove mall. The kitchen part-grills the meat, and you finish it over the charcoal brazier at your table. Almost everyone ordered the A set of pork belly, kkodeul neck and gabeuri cut (450g). All eight posts that give its price say 48,000 won. Many posts mention the sides that come with it: gamtae-seaweed rice bites, steamed egg with bonito flakes, and lard-fried kimchi kept warm on its own small brazier. We read 30 posts dated 10 July to 7 October 2026. Four were about other restaurants, so we set them aside, and all of the remaining 26 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't grill from raw here. 25 of the 26 posts say the meat arrives already part-grilled and needs only about a minute a side at the table. Staff don't stay to grill it for you, though: one post says plainly that they cooked it themselves. Another warns that it burns if you pile it all on at once, so put a few pieces on at a time.
  2. Five posts say you can watch the meat being part-grilled from the dining room. One describes a grilling room behind glass, and another credits the glass with keeping the smoke off their clothes. One also mentions seeing the meat flambéed.
  3. Seven posts say you order from a tablet or kiosk at the table. One liked that the kiosk had a no-cucumber option for the cold noodles. Another noticed the two owners' names and photos on the screen.
  4. It's a small place. Of the seven posts that describe the seating, five counted the tables: four say six and one says about seven. Three mention four-person tables. One post claims room for more than 60, but that reads like copied promotional text, so we didn't count it. Three posts mention storage bins for bags under the seat lids.

  1. Six posts say it's easy to reach by subway, about three to five minutes' walk from Magok Station exit 4. One person who walked from Balsan Station got lost when the navigation app sent them into a side alley. Their advice: skip the alley between the Compose Coffee and the café next to it, and keep straight along the main road.
  2. No post calls it expensive, and eight say the prices are fair or good value. The prices people give for extras are 6,000 won for doenjang stew, cold buckwheat noodles or bibim noodles, 7,000 won for the stew with rice, 3,000 won for steamed egg, 1,000 won for rice, and 5,000 won for soju or beer. Several posts show two people spending around 55,000 won on the A set plus one side. One post found the set just right for two women but thought a big eater might want more than the meat alone.
  3. One post actually brought its own bottle. They had heard corkage was free and took a red wine, but the restaurant had no opener or wine glasses, so they drank from beer glasses. Other posts mention free corkage too, but only by repeating the listing.
  4. Two posts went with children, and one ordered the kids' rice for their child. Several posts mention free meals for children six and under, but most of them are just repeating the restaurant's own notice.

Parking

Posts saying you can park2 of 26 posts

Two posts say they drove, and both parked in the building's underground garage. Several posts repeat the instructions: park in the building B section and give your plate number when you pay to get free parking. No post confirms this from experience.

Where it is

Map showing where Butaya is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts say it's easy to reach by subway, about three to five minutes' walk from Magok Station exit 4. One person who walked from Balsan Station got lost when the navigation app sent them into a side alley. Their advice: skip the alley between the Compose Coffee and the café next to it, and keep straight along the main road.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor from experience. The address says ground floor of building B and one post calls it a street-front shop, but nobody mentions going up or down any steps.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. The disabled parking space appears only in a copied listing. That doesn't mean access is poor, just that nobody wrote about it.

Nobody says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in listings copied into three posts.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post mentions waiting for a table. Only two posts address it. One walked in without a wait just before 6pm on a weekday, though the tables filled up soon after. The other found it quiet in August. With only six or seven tables, we don't know what peak times are like.
  • All the opening hours were copied from listings. Most agree on weekdays 11:00–23:00 with a 14:00–17:00 break and last order at 22:00, closed Sundays. Saturdays vary. August posts say 11:00, five posts from 28 September onward say 14:00, and one from 4 October says weekends start at 16:00. The earliest post, from 10 July, lists open every day with weekends from 16:00. We can't tell whether the hours changed or were copied wrong, so check before going at the weekend.
  • Many posts copy the phone number 0507-1342-5874, and the note that you can book through Naver or by phone is also copied. No post says they booked ahead.
  • Posts disagree on whether the bonito-topped steamed egg is free. Six say it came on the house and three call it a standard side. Two say they had to order it: one paid 3,000 won, and the other says it isn't included.
  • The posts bunch up in August and again from late September to early October 2026. Five of them repeat identical lines such as 'top-grade pork supplied to only three places nationwide'. Two posts disclose sponsorship or a free visit, and the other 24 don't say who paid. We didn't rely on the restaurant's own claims about meat grade or aging, since the posts only repeat them.
