ondam
온담 Ondam The house does not explain the name; one blogger reads Ondam as 'a place where warm stories are shared' (on, warm; dam, talk).

Ondam is a Korean restaurant occupying a whole three-storey building at 38 Songijeong-ro 1-gil, Jung-gu, a short climb up from Chungjeongno Station past the furniture street. It is the former Ogongil Chungjeongno branch, renamed on the same spot in March 2026. At lunch people order one-person meals such as the beef short-rib set (19,000 won), grilled mackerel, kimchi braise or octopus bibimbap, all served with rice and beef seaweed soup; in the evening, sharing dishes like boiled pork (38,000 won) and the zucchini-potato pancake (18,000 won) go with drinks. Meals started at 13,000 won in posts through August; one September post lists 14,000. We read 30 posts from 27 March to 13 October 2026, 29 of them actual visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Most tables run along floor-to-ceiling windows on the second and third floors, and 22 posts describe looking down over the Chungjeongno streets; because the building sits on a slope, the view opens from the second floor up. Four posts say staff lowered the blinds against the low sun before sunset and raised them afterwards, and one was warned the window seats get direct sun before the sun goes down.
- Thirteen posts walked from Chungjeongno Station (Lines 2 and 5), mostly from Exit 6, up a short slope toward the furniture street, in three to five minutes. One post names Exit 1 and another Exit 10. One came by bus 260 or 7013 from Gongdeok, getting off at Ahyeon Furniture Complex and walking two minutes.
- Four side dishes come with the meal, and nine posts mention refills - mostly from a self-serve bar, though one says staff topped them up unasked. Japchae, bean sprouts and cubed radish kimchi appear almost every time; the fourth dish varied from post to post.
- Ordering is by tablet at each table, as seven posts note; one says a last-order notice popped up on the tablet.
4 more
- Five posts mention a screen or TV: a projection screen on the second floor showed a KBO baseball game in one post and was set up for the World Cup in another. Three posts use the identical phrase about a projection screen on two and a 55-inch TV on three.
- Eight posts say the seasoning is not heavy - the rib braise sauce, side dishes and soup were 'not salty'.
- Heat depends on the dish: 19 posts call the octopus bibimbap, pork rib braise, intestine tteokbokki or kimchi braise spicy. One found the stir-fried octopus not spicy at all, and one rated the octopus bibimbap milder than Shin Ramyun. Those avoiding heat chose the beef ribs, mackerel or boiled pork.
- Seven posts went as a couple, four with family (a mother or children), one with a friend. Several also saw office groups dining, one of about ten on the third floor.

Parking

'No parking' comes from copied info blocks; only three posts speak from experience. One parked in the shared resident spaces in front, prepaid via the Parking Friends app at 600 won per 30 minutes; one says there is no parking so transit is easier; one photographed the same resident-parking QR code without saying whether they drove.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 21 of 28 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 14 (of 28 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 8 of 28 posts |
| Separate restrooms | 5 of 28 posts |
There is no basement; the restaurant uses the ground to third floors. Fourteen posts describe the ground floor, which holds the counter, kitchen and a few two- and four-seat tables, so most were taken up to the second or third floor. Twenty-one posts mention the second floor, with a curved glass-block booth; the third floor has six- and eight-seat group tables and round tables.
No post mentions a step at the door, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift - not that there is none, only that nobody wrote about it. Four posts climbed stairs to the second floor, where the toilets are. Neither of the two posts with children mentions a stroller.
The toilets are inside, on the second floor: eight posts say so, and five of them note separate men's and women's rooms. One post stresses they are only on the second floor, so guests seated on the ground or third floor have to go up or down to reach them.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nobody reports waiting for a table. Two posts arrived around the 11:00 opening or early lunch and found it quiet; three arriving at 12:30 or just after lunch found it busy, and one was sent upstairs because the ground floor was full. Four mention reservations: three booked ahead, and one found every window table reserved.
- All opening hours come from copied info blocks, and they changed over time. Nine posts up to May 2026 list Saturday and Sunday closures; from June posts say only Saturday is closed and Sunday is open. Four posts from June to early August give Sunday as 11:00-20:30, two from late August and September as 12:00-18:00. Weekdays are mostly 11:00-21:30 with a 14:30-17:00 break and last order 20:30; two posts give an 11:30 opening and two a 20:40 last order. One April post lists Sunday as the closed day.
- Prices were mostly steady, but one September 2026 post lists meals 1,000 won higher: octopus bibimbap, kimchi braise and perilla noodles at 14,000 instead of 13,000, mackerel at 16,000 instead of 15,000. Only one post comes after, so current prices need checking. The short-rib set stayed at 19,000 won from April to September; one post says the printed menu showed 22,000 but the bill was 19,000. No one called it expensive; three found prices easy, one said 19,000 for a meal is 'not exactly cheap'.
- Several posts give the same phone number, 0507-1339-3450, and two booked through Naver reservations. Group capacity (50 or 64), corkage, high chairs and pets come only from copied info blocks and disagree - pets are listed as both allowed and not allowed.
- Many posts repeat the same phrases - the old favourites kept at fairer prices, the 500-700 degree grill, the projection screen and 55-inch TV, the kimchi pancake made with ground radish kimchi. We treat these as the house's own copy, not evidence. Two posts disclose a sponsored or free meal, two say they paid themselves, and the other 26 say nothing.
- The name changed: in March 2026 the Ogongil Chungjeongno branch became Ondam on the same site, and two posts say the menu stayed the same. It did not move.
