Palgakdo Sanggyeyeok-jeom
팔각도 상계역점 Palgakdo joins palgak, the octagon of the house's eight-sided grill, with paldo, Korea's 'eight provinces' — the chain says it gathered flavours from all over the country.

A franchise branch of a charcoal chicken-rib chain, one to three minutes' walk from Exit 2 of Sanggye Station on the Hangeulbiseok-ro 20-gil food alley. Soy-marinated chicken ribs (220 g for 12,900 won) come part-grilled from the kitchen and are finished over charcoal on an eight-sided grill, eaten with laver, white kimchi and a ring of sauces; there are also chicken cuts like neck, skirt and cartilage, and charcoal pork belly (200 g, 12,900 won), added from late 2025. With two meat portions, cold buckwheat noodles, acorn-jelly soup or fish-cake udon cost 3,300 won, and many posts report soju and beer at 2,000 won a bottle. At lunch (12–4 pm) two meat portions bring a free soybean-paste tofu stew. We read 30 posts from August 2025 to October 2026: 26 describe a visit, two only mention the place, and two were about other restaurants and set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The chicken arrives part-grilled. Twenty posts say it comes from the kitchen already carrying grill marks and needs only five to ten more minutes at the table. Two posts were told to keep meat off the centre of the grill, where the heat is fierce and can't be turned down.
- Fifteen posts say a server lays the chicken, spring onions and shishito peppers on the grill and cuts the meat with scissors, and several mention the laver being toasted over the coals first. Five posts add that after that you turn and cook it yourself — this is not a place that grills the whole meal for you.
- There is an order to ordering. Two posts say you must start with at least two portions of the soy chicken ribs before the special cuts like neck or skirt can be ordered — they were told the gochujang cuts need the plate swapped for a wire grate.
- Waiting depends on when you go. Two posts met a queue — a Friday evening before a summer 'boknal' holiday, and a dinner where the writers took one of the last two tables and everyone after them waited outside. Two others walked straight in, on an early weekday evening and after the peak. One post mentions seats outside for waiting, and one says meals are capped at two hours when there is a queue. Three posts booked ahead through Naver.

- Twelve posts call it cheap, pointing to 12,900 won chicken portions, 2,000 won soju and beer, 3,300 won sides with two meat portions, and the free lunch stew. One couple paid 31,800 won for two portions of chicken, corn cheese and a soft drink (September 2025).
- Three posts came with children and all found it easy for a family meal — the kids ate the chicken and steamed egg, and one family got a free rice ball. The high chairs are mentioned only in copied listing text.

There is no parking of its own. One post drove and used the nearby Samchang Tower Plaza car park, whose first hour was free. More than ten posts say 'no parking', but almost all of them copied it from the listing, so we don't count those.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 4 of 26 posts |

| Separate restrooms | 3 of 26 posts |
No one described the floor; only the address says ground floor. That isn't a doubt about it — just that no post describes the way in.
No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. We don't know.
The toilets are inside the restaurant. Four posts say so, three of them noting separate men's and women's rooms; one also found them clean.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Twenty-one posts give the hours as 12:00 to midnight daily, last order 11 pm, mostly copied from the listing. One September 2026 post says it closes at 10 pm, and one December 2025 post says it would stay open until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays from 2026 — no 2026 post confirms the late hours.
- The discounted side price may have gone up. Posts up to 17 September 2026 say 3,300 won with two meat portions; two posts from 24 September and 19 October say 3,800. Two other posts from the same week still say 3,300, so we can't pin down when it changed. One post also lists beer at 3,000 won.
- More than ten posts give the phone number as 0507-1414-3360; two give 02-936-3338. Three posts booked through Naver.
- A post from 19 September 2025 says the writer was told the restaurant had been closed for a long time after a fire and reopened that day after repairs. No post says what changed.
- Ten posts landed in the nine days from 17 to 25 September 2026; four share an identical hashtag line and two share sentences, and one turns out, from the same writer's diary, to have been a sponsored visit. Since these may be promotional, we counted only what they experienced — orders, seating, waits — not their praise.
