Korean

Buchon Yukhoe

부촌육회 Buchon means 'wealthy village' and yukhoe is Korean raw beef tartare; one list post says the house began in 1965 as a restaurant called Buchon.

Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →

A raw-beef (yukhoe) house in the yukhoe alley inside Gwangjang Market, at Jong-ro 200-12. Posts record yukhoe at 23,000 won, yukhoe bibimbap at 11,000 won (16,000 for the large), and yukhoe with live octopus at 38,000 won; beef-and-radish soup, kimchi and sesame-oil dip are already on the table when you sit. An annex sits just across the way at Jong-ro 200-4, and diners who queue at the main shop are sometimes seated there. We read 19 posts dated 23 Sep to 15 Oct 2026; 10 describe an actual meal. Four were about other places and were set aside; five were multi-restaurant lists or did not make clear whether the writer ate here, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait. Of nine posts that mention waiting, seven did: 30 groups ahead at 1:30 pm on a weekend and in after 30 minutes; 21st in line at 4:30 pm on a weekend with a call 30 minutes later; 30 minutes on a Sunday evening; 11 groups ahead plus another 10 minutes standing outside after the call. One weekday visit at 4 pm had 2 groups ahead and a 2–3 minute wait, and one weekend visit walked straight in. You register on a CatchTable kiosk and get a KakaoTalk call, so several writers wandered the market meanwhile.
  2. Three posts say seating is limited to 1 hour 30 minutes, one adding that this applies when there is a queue. Four say food comes fast (one jokes it arrived in a second, another under three minutes), and no one complained of running out of time.
  3. Four posts got refills of the free beef-and-radish soup; one notes the refill had as much radish and beef as the first bowl, and two mention an MSG taste.
  4. Three posts noticed many foreign diners, naming Japanese and Chinese tourists; one saw Japanese guests ordering raw liver and tripe. One post saw it differently: plenty of tourists in the market, but mostly Korean diners inside.

  1. Not a quiet room. Three posts describe it as loud with people constantly coming and going; one adds that tables are close together and space is tight.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 10 posts

No visitor described the floor or any stairs; the '1st floor' in the address is copied listing data.

No one mentioned a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access. We only know it sits inside a market alley — this means no one wrote about it, not that access is fine or impossible.

Only one post (23 Sep) says there is a toilet inside the shop; no one said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 15 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-112 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices mostly agree, but one post (13 Oct) gives the regular bibimbap as 12,000 won against 11,000 in six others. One writer says three dishes for two came to under 40,000 won. One post says it is one dish per person.
  • Company is scattered — one post with friends, one with a partner, one with a mother — too few to say who the place suits.
  • One post recalls free liver and tripe with an order of yukhoe in the past and says that seems to have ended; it does not say when.
  • Five posts give the same hours, 10:00–21:30 with last order at 21:00, but all copy a listing block. No one mentions a closing day.
  • Three posts give the same phone number, 02-2267-1831. No one mentions reservations; everyone got in through the on-site queue.
  • One post (11 Oct) queued at the main shop but was seated in the annex at Jong-ro 200-4. We counted its wait, ordering and taste notes, but not its seating or the annex's 'no parking' listing.
