Chinese

Xin Hong Lou

신홍러우 Sinhongreou Xin Hong Lou is a Chinese-style name; lou is the word for a multi-storey hall, a common ending for Chinese restaurant names. The posts do not explain the rest of the name.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor of Lotte Department Store Cheongnyangni, connected to Cheongnyangni Station. It serves whole Peking duck (98,000 won, ordered by phone two days ahead), jjajangmyeon and jjamppong (11,000 to 13,000 won) and set courses at 35,000 to 90,000 won a head, and its private rooms make it a common choice for family gatherings. We read 30 posts from July 2025 to October 2026; 26 record an actual meal, two were about other restaurants and set aside, and two only mention the name.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Sixteen posts mention private rooms, and several families booked one. The terms vary by post: one five-person party had a minimum spend of 225,000 won and a two-hour limit; an eight-person party paid a reservation fee of 10,000 won a head. A post from August 2025 copied the booking page saying there is no room charge, so the two accounts differ. Another family got a room by ordering a course and set up a baby's 100-day table there.
  2. Twelve posts say they booked ahead. The Peking duck has to be pre-ordered, and two posts say only by phone, two days before. One post set the duck's serving time for :45, as you must pick a 15-minute slot, and it arrived at :50.
  3. Fifteen posts call something crisp, mostly the duck skin and the sweet-and-sour pork; two disagree. One found the duck skin less crisp than expected, another found the glutinous-rice pork sweet and a little soggy. A third called the skin crisp but said the duck was slightly overcooked and charred in places that day.
  4. Five posts ordered from a device at the table, variously described as a kiosk, a tablet or a T-order screen; one noted that extra pickles are also ordered on the tablet.

  1. Seven posts found the staff kind; one did not. That family was shown to room 1 for a parent's birthday and walked in on other guests already eating there. Another post, on a busy graduation day, was warned that food might be slow, but it came out faster than expected.
  2. Seven posts found portions generous, mainly the size of the duck and the noodle and rice dishes; two found the prawn dishes small, one advising always ordering the large size.
  3. Four posts say the walk from Cheongnyangni Station straight into the store was easy, one noting you can stay underground the whole way. Directions like '100 m from exit 4' are copied listings and we did not count them. Two posts took the lift to the 7th floor and three took the escalator.

Posts saying you can park3 of 26 posts

Three posts parked in the department-store car park; one describes walking through the connecting passage and taking the escalator up. The often-repeated 'two hours free for diners' appears only in copied listings.

Where it is

Map showing where Xin Hong Lou is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Four posts say the walk from Cheongnyangni Station straight into the store was easy, one noting you can stay underground the whole way. Directions like '100 m from exit 4' are copied listings and we did not count them. Two posts took the lift to the 7th floor and three took the escalator.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor2 of 26 posts
Step-free access1 of 26 posts

Every post places it on the 7th floor of the department store, none underground; two note the Lotte Cinema is on the same floor.

Nobody says whether there is a step at the entrance. One post records a baby napping in a stroller at the table throughout the meal, and another saw a wheelchair kept on site, but no one wrote about going in with a wheelchair. That means no one wrote about it, not that it is impossible.

No one says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or the department store's shared one; 'separate men's and women's toilets' appears only in two copied amenity lists, which we did not count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on price are split one to one: a family of six paid 174,000 won for lunch and called the 17,000-won noodle soup well over the line, while another expected it to be very expensive and found it was not. The rest only list prices. The two-person signature set appears as 60,000 won in February 2026 and from 58,000 won on a September menu, so the current price needs checking.
  • Sixteen posts give opening hours, fifteen of them 10:30 to 21:00 with last orders at 20:00, though mostly in copied listings. One September 2025 post says 10:30 to 20:30 in line with the store, and one says it closes on department-store holidays. One post went at 3 pm because there is no afternoon break.
  • Posts agree on the phone number 0507-1338-9492. Bookings are taken via Naver, CatchTable or phone, but the Peking duck by phone only; one post copied a separate number, 010-6889-9492, for room bookings of nine or more.
  • No post describes queuing. Many booked ahead; one saw reservation cards on most tables at 5 pm on a weekday, another found it full on a graduation day. How long a walk-in would wait, we do not know.
  • On richness, one post found the duck a little greasy and wanted a spicy sauce, while two said the food was not greasy.
  • Eight posts from July to October 2026 follow the same template, in the same order: hotel-trained chefs, black-and-red interior, duck shown whole then carved, a choice of stir-fry or fried bones. Only one post, from August 2025, says it was written in exchange for a meal voucher.
