Sopung Golbaengi
소풍골뱅이 Sopung means a picnic or outing; golbaengi is the large sea whelk that the Euljiro alley tosses with scallion and chili.
Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →
A whelk-and-drinks house at the mouth of Euljiro's whelk alley (Suporo 43), near Euljiro 3-ga Station exit 12. Order the whole, uncut whelk tossed with shredded scallion and chili and it arrives with a rolled omelette and fish-cake soup; a kimchi pancake tends to follow. At lunch it serves stir-fried squid, spicy pork, squid-and-pork and kimchi stew at 10,000 won a person. We read 25 posts from December 2024 to September 2026, 19 of them from people who went. Nine posts list the phone number 02-2273-6878.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Seventeen posts describe things that came at no charge: popcorn-style puffed corn and raw carrot sticks to start, rolled omelette and fish-cake soup with the whelk, and a kimchi pancake later in the evening. Two posts say the omelette came with lunch too. That is why some writers read the whelk price as a set price.
- Seven posts say first-hand that refills are given. A party of seven reckoned they ate the omelette more than five times over; a lunch visitor said the refill came freshly made. One post adds that lunch rice is self-serve from a cooker in the hall.
- Eight posts say the room runs much deeper than the frontage suggests; one compared it to the TARDIS. One regular says the tables are spaced wider than at neighbouring whelk houses, and a group of seven sat in a private back room with two tables pushed together.
- Six posts describe walking from exits 11 or 12 of Euljiro 3-ga Station, two or three minutes away; one adds it is ten minutes from Chungmuro Station exit 5.
2 more
- No post describes queuing. Two say they walked straight in, one on a Saturday at 7 pm and one at lunch. One post warns that when it is busy, dishes other than the whelk and omelette come out slowly.
- Four posts came with friends as a second or third stop after dinner, and one with a year-end party of seven. No post describes coming alone.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 2 of 19 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 19 posts read) |
No post says which floor the room is on. One thought there might be an upstairs but did not go up. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is nothing to say.
No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair. We do not know.
Two posts say the toilet is inside, at the back; one of them regretted that it is a single shared toilet. No post mentions separate men's and women's toilets.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices have moved. The whelk was 29,000 won in posts from December 2024 to January 2026 and 31,000 won in two posts from March 2026; the noodle add-on went from 3,000 won (March 2025) to 4,000 won (August and October 2025). No post concludes it is expensive: five call the price fair, five say it looks high but includes the free sides.
- Three posts give opening hours of 1 pm to 2 am daily, but all copied them from a listing, so we do not rely on them; 'open every day' likewise appears only in a copied block. One post found no hours posted at all, and a long-time regular believed it stays open until 3 or 4 am. Lunch service is confirmed by people who ate there.
- Some posts were left out of the counts: one about Namyeongdong Yangmun, a different restaurant on the ground floor of the same building; and, as not-visited, a TV-episode recap, an alley-history essay, two multi-restaurant lists, and a generic write-up mentioning oyster pancakes, tofu-kimchi and bar seating that no other post describes.
