Pyeongyang Myeonok
평양면옥 Pyeongyang Myeonok means 'Pyongyang noodle house' — myeonok is an old word for a noodle restaurant, and the house serves Pyongyang-style buckwheat naengmyeon.

Pyeongyang Myeonok is a Pyongyang-style naengmyeon house at 207 Jangchungdan-ro in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, near Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station. The core dish is cold buckwheat noodles in a clear beef broth: 16,000 won (23,000 for a double) in posts from August to October 2026. Many posts add dumplings (16,000 won a plate, 8,000 a half) or jeyuk, sliced boiled pork. We read 31 posts dated 9 August to 17 October 2026, 16 of them actual visits. We set aside 9 that were about other restaurants — the Dosan and Shinsegae Gangnam branches, the unrelated Uijeongbu Pyeongyang Myeonok — and did not count 6 that only introduced the place or listed it among others.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- There is a line at lunch and on weekends. Five posts say they waited; the times they give are 10, 10 and 20 minutes. One couple waited 10 minutes at 12:15 on a Sunday; another waited 20 minutes at weekend lunch and noted there were no queue tickets — a staff member kept the line in order. Three posts walked straight in, at 12:50 on a weekday, at an off hour on a holiday, and outside mealtimes.
- Parking is by valet. Five posts used or mention the valet, and every one that gives a price says 3,000 won. Three mention the parking tower next to the building. A copied info block in one post says 2,000 won; we did not count it.
- It is one dish per person. Two posts ran into the rule. A parent with a six-year-old was told everyone must order a dish and, after some back and forth, settled on one bowl of naengmyeon and a half plate of dumplings. Another wondered whether a plate of dumplings counts as a dish.
- Instead of water, you get a cup of hot buckwheat-cooking water when you sit down; six posts mention it, most calling it nutty and comforting. One notes cold water is self-serve from a dispenser.
2 more
- The dining room is large. Three posts say so; one describes plenty of four-person tables and an open kitchen at the back where you can watch the noodles being boiled. One post was sent to an annex next to the main building at a full weekend lunch.
- Three posts say the meat has no off smell, both the noodle topping and the sliced beef. Two say the topping meat is cut thick — one found it a little dry for that reason.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
No post says what floor the restaurant is on or whether there are stairs. The ground-floor note in the address is a registered value, not something anyone reported. We don't know.
No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We don't know.
No post says whether the toilet is inside. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in one copied info block, which we did not count. We don't know.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 19 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-10-11 | 2 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices have gone up. Posts from August 2026 on give 16,000 won for naengmyeon; one post says it was 15,000 won when they went, and a copied menu in another still shows 15,000 won and 34,000 won for jeyuk. For a sense of a meal, two people paid 40,000 won for two bowls and a half plate of dumplings. Three posts found it expensive.
- Only one post describes the walk from the station as its own experience: five minutes from Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. The exit numbers and distances in other posts read as copied directions, so we did not count them.
- Who people came with doesn't add up to a pattern: two posts went with a husband, one with a child by car, and none say they came with friends or alone.
- Only one post judged the service, and unfavourably: in the annex at weekend lunch, guests were seated, ordered and prepaid all at once in what it called a factory-like way. No other post reached a verdict on the staff.
- All the opening hours are copied from listings. Six posts give 11:00–21:30, six say closed on Mondays, four give last order at 21:00. One post alone says open every day of the year. Worth checking before you go.
- Several posts give the phone number as 02-2267-7784; one also lists 02-2263-7784. No post says whether they take reservations.
