Kkangtong Mandu
깡통만두 Kkangtong means a tin can and mandu means dumplings; one diner was told by the owner that the founder, his mother, put the two words together simply because the name sticks in the head.

Kkangtong Mandu is a hand-made dumpling and noodle house in the alley opposite the Constitutional Court gate, a short walk from Anguk Station exit 2. Kalmandu, knife-cut noodles and dumplings in one bowl, is 12,000 won; dumpling soup is 14,000; bibim-guksu topped with beef jeon is 13,000 (19,000 with three dumplings), and groups order the dumpling hot pot (45,000 for a medium). Nearly every visit involved a long CatchTable queue, and the menu is chosen when you join it. We read 30 posts dated 7 June to 13 October 2026; 20 of them record an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The queue is almost always long. Of the 20 visits, 18 mention waiting: about 5 minutes on a weekday around 1 pm, just over 20 minutes, many around an hour, 68, 70 and 75 minutes, 1 hour 50, 2 hours, and once 238 minutes. People who joined the app queue the moment it opened at 11:30 still found themselves 30th or 59th. One diner walked straight in at 6:30 pm on a Monday. Others report the waitlist closing around 2 pm on a weekend, and ingredients selling out at 4:30 pm so late arrivals could not even register.
- You order while you queue. Three posts describe choosing their dishes at the CatchTable kiosk outside when joining the line, and those who queued remotely by app said the same. One quotes a notice that the menu and party size cannot be changed once you are called; another says you lose your place if you are not in within three minutes of the alert, and one found they could not change the order after sitting down.
- The most-ordered dish was bibim-guksu: thick knife-cut noodles rather than thin somyeon, heaped with shredded beef jeon, with a cup of hot bone broth on the side. Eight posts call it spicy, mostly 'moderately' so or 'spicy and tangy'; one said it was pleasant precisely because it was not aggressively hot.
- The dumplings are large. Four posts say the portions are big. Posts counted five, six or seven dumplings in a bowl of soup; one said a light eater would be full after three, another that they would have skipped the steamed dumplings had they known.

- People come back: four posts were written on a third, fourth or fifth visit, or by someone who goes every autumn.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

One diner who drove confirms there is no parking at the shop and used a nearby paid lot found through an app, at 1,200 won an hour. Other posts saying 'no parking' were copying an info block, so we did not count them.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
3 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 20 posts read) |
|---|
Only one post mentions the floor, saying the shop is on the ground floor and easy for older people; no one else described it.
We do not know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it.
We do not know whether the toilet is inside or whether it is split by gender; no post mentions it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-10-05 | 3 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Accounts of the room's size differ: two posts call it spacious, one mentioning a private room, while three call it small or modest. Posts mention many tables for one or two, and a solo diner was seated at a long single-row table.
- Opinions on seasoning differ: two posts found it a little salty, three said it was not. Most describe a beef-bone broth, though one diner thought it tasted like anchovy stock.
- On company: three posts went with friends, and one each went alone, on a date with a husband, with family, and as a group of three. The rest only say 'we' or 'the two of us'.
- Several posts say the restaurant started in Itaewon and moved to Bukchon, but only one writer actually ate at the Itaewon shop. The founding year is given as 1983 or 1988, and one post dates the move to 2014, well before our posts. The same writer notes the floor seating of the early days has been replaced by tables and chairs.
- Thirteen visit posts give opening hours, all copied from an info block. Most say weekdays 11:30–21:00 with a 15:30–17:00 break, Saturdays 11:30–20:00 with no break, closed Sundays. One gives 11:50–23:00 with no day off, one has Monday–Saturday until 21:30, two have Saturday until 21:00 like weekdays, and one says it closes on public holidays. Posts warn it shuts early when ingredients run out; one diner phoned ahead to check.
- On prices, posts from September and October 2026 agree: kalmandu 12,000, dumpling soup 14,000, bibim-guksu 13,000 won. One post on 29 September lists each about 1,000 won lower and the medium hot pot at 40,000, but does not say when it paid, so we did not treat it as a price change. One post found it a bit pricey; two called it reasonable or good value.
- Six posts give the phone number as 02-794-4243. Two give other numbers, one of which matches a nearby bar mentioned elsewhere. No post mentions taking reservations; everyone describes the CatchTable waitlist instead.
