Nurimaeul Gamjatang Itaewon
누리마을감자탕 이태원점 Nuri is an old native Korean word for 'the world' and maeul means 'village'; gamjatang is the pork-backbone and potato stew the house is named for.

Nurimaeul Gamjatang's Itaewon branch is a pork-backbone stew and braise house on the second floor of a building right outside Itaewon Station exit 4, across from the Hamilton Hotel. Stews start at 34,000 won for a small plain gamjatang; flame-grilled bones are 38,000 small and 46,000 medium; single bowls of backbone soup run 12,000–13,000. Pairs typically ordered one small stew or braise plus noodles (3,000) or DIY fried rice (6,000 for two). You order from a tablet or kiosk at the table, a serving robot brings the basic side dishes, and water and refills come from a self-service bar. Any braise or grilled-bone order comes with a free crock of the soup broth. Several posts call it newly opened around September 2026. We read 31 posts dated September 10 to October 16, 2026, all from people who ate there.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Seventeen posts mention the window seats. Many say the big windows were thrown open in the cool weather — 'like eating at a street stall', 'like sitting on a rooftop' — looking down on the Hamilton Hotel and the main street. All of these were written between mid-September and mid-October; we don't know whether the windows stay open in the cold.
- Eighteen posts say the portions are large. Some counted bones: six in a small aged-kimchi or spicy gamjatang, seven or eight in a medium soy braise, seven big ones in a medium grilled-bone plate, about three big pieces in a bowl of backbone soup. One post said a small aged-kimchi braise would feed three, and the stew pot itself — more like a cauldron — came up again and again.
- Twelve posts ordered from the tablet or kiosk at the table. A serving robot brings the basic sides and dishes; one post says staff carried out the main. Water, kimchi, radish, pickled onion and aprons are at the self-service bar — one writer asked staff for water before realizing and felt a little sheepish.
- How hot it is depends on the dish: eight posts call it spicy, two say it isn't. The grilled bones are the hot one — one post put them just under Buldak ramen. The aged-kimchi stew was described as mild and savory, and the 'spicy' gamjatang split one to one between 'quite spicy' and 'not hot, just sharp'.
2 more
- Six posts say they walked from the station and found it easily. The '29 m from exit 4 of Itaewon Station (Line 6)' figure is copied from the listing in many posts; one also notes a bus stop right out front.
- Eight posts came as a couple, four with friends, four with family, one with a larger group, and one alone with a bottle of beer. Three brought children; one says the kids were glued to the big screen in the back.

Two posts say the restaurant has no parking. The three who drove used the Yongsan-gu Office lot or a nearby paid lot. 'No parking' and the nearby lot's 3,000 won per 30 minutes are copied from the listing in many posts.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 11 of 31 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 11 (of 31 posts read) |

Eleven posts describe going up to the second floor; none mention a basement. One says the entrance is another half-flight up, and one notes priced menu boards along the way up.
We don't know whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Three posts say they took the stairs up to the second floor; no one mentions an elevator or a step at the entrance. That's an absence of reports, not a confirmed absence.
Two posts say the restroom is outside the restaurant, elsewhere in the building, and one says it needs a code. Separate men's and women's rooms appear only in copied listing text, so we don't know.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- No post says they had to wait. Two came close: one at 1 a.m. said a few minutes later they'd have queued, and one at 7:50 on a Saturday evening barely got a table. That doesn't mean there's never a wait — just that nobody wrote about one. A waiting area appears only in copied listing text.
- One post says seating is limited to two hours on weekends and when the room is full; no other post mentions it.
- Two posts mention a one-dish-per-person rule (sides excluded). Other pairs shared a single small braise, so we don't know how the shared pots are counted.
- Nurimaeul Gamjatang is a chain; two posts mention eating at its Hongdae or another branch. '22-year tradition' and 'broth simmered over six hours' are the brand's own claims, repeated by bloggers, and we don't treat them as evidence.
- Thirty posts give the hours as 24 hours, every day, and nineteen add 'open all year' — but nearly all of that is copied from the listing. The only first-hand evidence is one post that ate there at 1 a.m.
- All prices come from one period (Sept–Oct 2026) and posts agree almost everywhere. The one difference: the medium soybean-cream gamjatang is 42,000 won in the post that ordered it, 43,000 on transcribed menus. A meal for two — one small pot plus noodles or fried rice — came to around 40,000 won.
- Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1334-9321 (one has an extra digit by mistake). Naver booking and private hire (40+ for part of the room, 60+ for all of it) are the restaurant's own listing; no post says it booked ahead.
- Many posts from October 5–16 repeat the same phrases in the same order ('22-year tradition', 'simmered six hours', the receipt-review promotion). None discloses sponsorship, though one carries a sponsored-review site's footer. One post was disappointed — it found the plain gamjatang's meat hard to get off the bone — while the others said it fell away easily.
