MODAM

모담 이태원점 Modam Itaewon-jeom

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Modam Itaewon is a Korean set-meal restaurant on the lobby floor of the Mondrian Seoul Itaewon hotel. Each set opens with a spread of starters — seasonal porridge, two salads, bracken and perilla-oil buckwheat noodles, fried shiitake 'gangjeong' and a seasonal raw fish — followed by the main with rice, seaweed soup, chili water kimchi and side dishes on a tray for each person, and ends with a perilla-leaf sorbet. The most-ordered sets were the grilled short-rib patty with deodeok (15 posts), charcoal-grilled dried croaker (13) and marinated seafood with seaweed-butter rice (11); all three were 45,000 won at weekday lunch and 49,000 won at dinner and weekends. We read 30 posts from 17 October 2025 to 17 October 2026, 26 of them actual visits (January to October 2026). We set aside two posts about the separate Modam Urban in Yeouido and one hotel-stay post, and did not count one new-openings list.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. 24 of the 26 visit posts mention the private rooms. One counts 14 rooms in total, another 12 light rooms and 2 dark ones, ranging from four-to-eight-seat rooms to a large room for twenty or more. Several mention a wardrobe in each room, and one says there was no room charge. Plenty of people ate in the main hall too: 8 posts describe it as roomy with wide gaps between tables, and 4 call it quiet.
  2. 5 posts describe a seated waiting area inside the entrance, with a curved bench and mother-of-pearl folding screens. 9 posts say they booked ahead, through Naver or Catchtable.
  3. Company splits evenly: family in 6 posts, a partner or spouse in 5, friends in 5. The occasions included pre-wedding family meetings, a first birthday and birthdays; two posts say a lettered plate and cake arrived after they noted the occasion in the booking request.
  4. 3 posts went with a baby or child, and 2 of them say the staff brought a baby chair or baby tableware. The children's tray on the menu was listed at 10,000 won.

Parking

Posts saying you can park8 of 26 posts

8 posts say parking was easy. The one writer who clearly drove parked on the hotel's third basement level and got two hours free with the meal. The two-hour figure is mostly copied from the listing, and the valet fee appears as both 28,000 and 30,000 won — both copied, so we don't rely on either.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 1 · no 7 (of 26 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

The floor is disputed. The registered address says first basement, yet 7 posts reach it through the hotel lobby on the same level, while one writer scouting it for a first-birthday party says it is underground with no natural light. The hotel may simply call its lobby level the ground floor, but we can't settle it.

No one described a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post lists wheelchair access among the amenities, but that is copied from the listing. This means nobody wrote about it, not that access is lacking.

Only one post describes the restroom: you step out and turn left to the hotel's own restrooms, so they are not inside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's rooms appear only in copied listing text in two posts.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only 1 post says they came by public transport (by bus). The '921 m from Noksapyeong Station exit 3' line is copied across many posts; one writer puts the walk at 10 to 15 minutes and another at about 15 minutes from Itaewon Station.
  • No post mentions waiting in line. One writer who arrived at the 11 a.m. opening found the hall empty and saw room guests pouring in by noon; another found every room booked. This means nobody wrote about a wait, not that there never is one.
  • 11 posts say the prices are reasonable and 1 finds them a little higher than an ordinary Korean restaurant. The same set costs more at dinner and weekends: the short-rib, croaker and seafood sets are 45,000 won at lunch and 49,000 at dinner, the boyang stew set 29,000 and 35,000. One couple paid 98,000 won for two sets at dinner.
  • Portions divide opinion: 3 posts say the starters alone filled them up, while 1 says the amount is not excessive.
  • 17 posts give the same opening hours — daily 11:00 to 21:30, break 15:00 to 17:00, last orders 13:40 and 20:10 — but all of it is copied from the listing. No post mentions a closing day.
  • 8 posts list the phone number as 0507-1427-3606; one gives 02-790-3606. Reservations are said to work through Naver, Catchtable or by phone.
  • 21 posts landed in the ten days from 8 to 17 October 2026, most repeating the same search phrases ('Itaewon family-meeting hanjeongsik', 'Itaewon group-dinner hanjeongsik') and the same pasted info block. Two disclose a free meal voucher and one a meal discount; the rest say nothing either way.
  • One starter changed: posts from January and February 2026 have perilla-oil doenjang cappellini, while posts from July 2026 onward have bracken and perilla-oil buckwheat noodles instead.
