KOREATOWN PLAZA

코리아타운 플라자 Koreataun Peullaja Koreatown Plaza borrows the name of the Korean strip-mall neighbourhoods of US cities; the menu is split into an LA side (galbi, soondubu) and a Seattle side (pho).

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Korean restaurant modelled on the Koreatown diners of LA and Seattle, on the ground floor of 41 Hoenamu-ro at the top of Gyeongnidan-gil. The menu is split into an LA side (soondubu, LA galbi) and a Seattle side (pho); you crack a raw egg into your soondubu yourself. The LA set for two — 250 g of galbi plus two soondubu — cost 43,900 won in both June 2025 and July 2026. We read 26 posts from May 2025 to October 2026; 17 describe an actual meal (four, including posts about the wine bar on the 4th floor of the same building, were discarded). Of those 17, 15 mention the soondubu and 12 ordered it.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. There is an arcade cabinet inside — seven posts mention it, and some played King of Fighters or a football game while waiting for food.
  2. A bar counter runs along the windows with a view of Namsan Tower; eight posts mention sitting by the window, and several call it a good spot for eating alone.
  3. You order at a kiosk by the entrance — seven posts say so; one suggests choosing from the menu board posted outside before you go in.
  4. Eleven posts call the room spacious; one lists several four-tops, large group tables and the window bar.
2 more
  1. Ten posts describe the soondubu as spicy; two say it is only mildly hot and not as fiery as a Korean-style version.
  2. Seven posts say portions are large (the giant cutlet, the single-serve army stew, the meat on the pho). One says the rice is generous but the galbi alone is not enough for two.

The most ordered dish is LA sundubu jjigae (LA 순두부찌개) — 12 of 17 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Getting inside

Toilet inside4 of 17 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 17 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; the '1st floor' in the address is copied. That doesn't rule out other floors — nobody wrote about it.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access; posts only mention that the restaurant sits up a hill.

Four posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant; one of them notes separate men's and women's rooms. One mentions a hand-washing sink in the dining room.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post reports waiting. Three walked straight in (lunch without a booking, first customer at opening, seated immediately) and one booked ahead. Nobody wrote about evenings or weekends.
  • Three posts describe getting there on foot: about 15 minutes from Noksapyeong station, a long uphill walk from the same station, or seven minutes from the 143 bus stop. The hill comes up repeatedly.
  • Only four posts say who they came with: two with friends, two with family (a wife, a sibling).
  • Opening hours differ from post to post. June 2025 and January 2026 posts give weekdays 11:00-23:00, Saturday 11:00-21:00, closed Sunday; five posts from April-June 2026 give weekdays 11:00-22:00, Saturday 11:00-20:00, Sunday 11:00-15:00. A July 2026 visit again says closed Sunday, and an October 2026 post gives 11:00-20:00 on both weekend days. Every post agrees on a 15:00-17:00 break. All of this is copied, so check before going.
  • Few posts give prices: the LA set at 43,900 won (two posts), pork soondubu at 9,900 won and orange chicken at 14,900 won (one each). A July 2026 receipt post says two people paid 48,400 won for the set plus rice, ramen noodles, a fried egg and a cola. Three posts call the prices reasonable; one rates value as just average.
  • Several posts copy the same phone number, 0507-1484-9028. Some say bookings go through Naver or CatchTable; one poster actually booked.
  • Eight posts from April-July 2026 carry the same three keyword phrases in their titles or hashtags, and two of them disclose sponsorship. Of the 17 visit posts, four say they paid themselves, two were sponsored or invited, and eleven say nothing. Mentions of actor visits come from a YouTube video and are not counted.
