Soegojip

쇠고집 Soegojip plays on soegogi (beef) and gojip (stubbornness) — read one way it is simply 'beef house', read the other 'stubborn about beef'.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Soegojip is a beef grill house in a converted hanok down an alley off Insadong 3-gil in Jongno, Seoul. Lunch is a single dish, pork-belly kimchi stew with unlimited noodles; dinner is skirt, sirloin, rib-finger beef and pork belly by the 200 g. The kitchen grills the meat and sets it on your table grill, around a pot of cabbage-leaf soybean soup. As of posts up to April 2026, skirt was 23,000 won per 200 g, sirloin 25,000 won and the lunch stew 11,000 won. We read 30 posts from June 2025 to September 2026; 26 of them describe actually eating here.

Rows without a count: 7 of 9 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The meat comes out already grilled. Eleven posts say the kitchen sears or fully cooks it and sets it on the table grill — one called it nearly rare, to finish to taste, another 'right about medium-rare'. The three posts that timed it said it arrived within two minutes, within five, and in under five.
  2. Side dishes and the soup are topped up before you ask — nine posts say so. One diner had the fresh kimchi refilled three or four times; another noted staff circulating and refilling without being asked. Eight posts call the staff friendly.
  3. Expect a wait at dinner. Four posts waited, two walked straight in. The only post to time it waited about 30 minutes; another found a line already at 6:30 on a weekday evening. You write your name and party size on a sheet by the door, and since nobody calls you, you have to stay close. The two who walked in came at weekday lunch and early on a weekend evening. Three posts describe the central courtyard as the waiting area; one mentions a heater there.
  4. Reservations are by phone. Six posts mention booking; four booked and were seated without waiting, and one called the same day, found no slot, and queued instead.

  1. This is a place for work dinners and gatherings: eight posts came in groups — a team dinner, a ten-person joint wedding-announcement party, an eight-person alumni meet-up. Three came with friends, two with family. Three posts call it roomy; two found it noisy.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 22 posts

Floors barely come up. One post calls it a single-storey hanok, and one describes walking in through a gate, past a corridor of fridges and across the courtyard. Nobody says anything about a basement or floor levels.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. That means we don't know, not that it can't.

One post puts the toilets on the courtyard side, another says they are in a separate space with men's and women's rooms. Whether you reach them from inside the dining room, or whether there is an accessible toilet, nobody says.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. Skirt was 22,000 won per 200 g in June and August 2025 posts and 23,000 won from November 2025 to April 2026 (one March 2026 post still says 22,000). One September 2026 post lists sirloin, skirt and rib-finger all at 26,000 won and pork belly at 19,000 — so far that is the only post with those prices. The lunch stew was 10,000 won on a menu copied in August 2025 and 11,000 won in posts from April 2026.
  • Most posts copy '3–5 minutes on foot from Jongno 3-ga Station exit 5' into their info box. One describes the route they took: off the bus at Jongno 3-ga, past Tapgol Park and up the street. Two say it is tucked in an alley and confusing to find the first time.
  • Twelve posts give opening hours and nearly all agree: weekdays 11:00–21:45 with a 15:00–17:00 break, Saturday 15:00–21:00, closed Sunday. Two say only 'daily 11:00–21:45' and one has weekdays closing at 22:00. All are copied listings, not times anyone checked in person.
  • Four posts give the same phone number, 010-4040-4940. Two say reservations are by phone only and same-day bookings are accepted.
  • One copied customer review mentions coming 'since the shop was in Jongno 3-ga', so it seems to have moved here long ago. That falls outside the posts we read, and we don't know when.
  • Four posts were left out of the counts: one is about a nearby tripe restaurant and only links to us; two are a ranked list and an auto-generated page built from Naver listings; and one (June 2026) carries a half-deleted review-count widget and never says what was ordered or paid, so we did not count it as a visit.
