Gangnam Myeonok Insa

강남면옥 인사점 Myeonok means a noodle house; Gangnam is the name of the chain, and this is its Insa-dong branch.

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Hamheung-style cold noodle house at Insadong-gil 18, right at the entrance to Insa-dong's pedestrian street. Broth and spicy noodles are 13,000 won, the pollack and mixed versions 14,000 won; short-rib soup is 16,000 won, a half plate of steamed dumplings 6,000 won, and a large braised short rib 82,000 won. A kettle of warm broth arrives as you sit down, and the most common order was a bowl of noodles with half a plate of dumplings. We read 17 posts from April 15 to October 7, 2026; four were about other branches (Paju, Unjeong, Seongnam) or another noodle house, so the counts come from the 13 posts by people who ate here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts noticed many foreign customers. One put it at half foreign, half Korean; another saw everyone from older diners to families and couples. A Saturday-lunch visitor saw a room of people eating noodles and dumpling soup, foreigners among them.
  2. Expect a wait at lunch and on weekends. Of the three posts that waited, two gave times: under ten minutes on a weekday lunch, about five minutes around 1 p.m. on a weekend. Two posts mention a sign-up list at the entrance. A former office worker nearby says there was a line almost every time. One visitor who came at opening and another on a late weekday evening found it quiet.
  3. Five posts call the dining room large, with plenty of tables; one adds that the tables are close together but generously sized. A family with a 16-month-old found it roomy, with high chairs, and the staff warmed up the baby food.
  4. Five posts found the portions generous: more meat in the short-rib soup than expected, dumplings so big that two fill you up, and more noodles than they looked.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 13 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 13 posts

One post says it is on the ground floor, but we don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it, including the family with a toddler.

Two visitors say the restroom is inside the restaurant, one that it is split by gender. Nobody says whether there is an accessible restroom.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Posts split on seasoning: two found it salty (the pollack noodles, the short-rib sauce) and three found it mild. They were talking about different dishes.
  • Two posts found the staff friendly. One solo diner did not: asked for water, a server told them to get it from the man at the next table, and they never got the warm-broth kettle other tables had.
  • Only one post recommends coming by transit; the five-minute walk from Jongno 3-ga Station exit 5 appears in several posts but as copied directions.
  • Nine posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 21:00 daily, all copied from listings; the one that says there's no afternoon break cites Naver Place. Two posts mention a drinks deal from 3 p.m.: soju 3,000 won, beer 4,000 won.
  • Prices agree across the menu photos, and one post's 2025 prices (13,000 won broth noodles, 6,000 won half plate of dumplings) match 2026. One post calls it expensive; another says 2,000 won a dumpling is steep but average for Seoul now; a third found the Suwon branch cheaper.
  • Five posts give the same phone number, 02-722-8586. The note that you can book by phone is copied from listings; no one in our posts booked ahead.
