Tteuran

뜰안 Tteuran means 'inside the yard' — you pass through a small planted courtyard to reach the hanok tea room.

Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →

Tteuran is a traditional tea house in the hanok lanes of Ikseon-dong. You walk through a small courtyard of hydrangeas and vines into the hanok, where it serves herbal teas such as ssanghwa and jujube, milk-ice red-bean bingsu, and rice cakes and hangwa. Prices in the posts: bingsu ₩15,000 small (Sept 2026) and ₩19,000 large (July), plum tea ₩8,000, assorted rice cakes ₩9,000. We read 19 posts published between July 9 and September 26, 2026. Six were about other places that share the name (five about a nursing home in Pyeongchang-dong, one about a rice-pot restaurant in Insa-dong), three only introduced the place, and ten were written by people who went. Two of those ten describe older visits, from July 2023 and March 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Half the room is floor seating, half is tables. Six visit posts described the split, and one noted you take your shoes off for the floor side. One couple moved to a table because sitting on the floor would numb their legs, and a family with parents chose a table too.
  2. One order per person. One post said so outright: three people ordered a large bingsu (₩19,000), were told the large counts as two servings, and had to add a plum tea (₩8,000).
  3. Five posts mentioned foreign visitors. One said staff explained the menu in English and there were English signs around the room; two said older customers were common as well.
  4. Of the seven visit posts that touched on price, four found it expensive — 'not that reasonable', 'on the pricier side' (₩24,000 for two drinks and rice cakes), rice cakes too small for the money, and a grain drink so pricey the writer hoped it would be big.

  1. Portions split by item: two posts called the large bingsu and the grain drink generous, while the two that called it small were both about the rice cakes. One said even a small bingsu was a bit much for one person.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 10 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 10 posts read)

No post mentioned what floor it is on; the 'ground floor' in the address is registry data, not something a visitor reported.

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means unknown, not step-free. Four posts noted two entrances (courtyard side and hanok side), and the floor seats require taking shoes off.

Two posts covered the toilet: a single unisex stall with a bidet and fan, described as spotless, and reached by stepping out into the courtyard. Nobody said whether it is accessible.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one visit post said they came by subway (walking from Jongmyo Station). The '146 m from Jongno 3-ga exit 4' figure is copied listing data, and one post warned the lanes are a maze that takes a map.
  • No post described queuing. One couple briefly shared a table because it was full, one writer guessed the chairs by the door are for waiting, and one said the drinks took a little while.
  • Company is too scattered to generalize: two went with a husband, one with parents, one with friends, and the rest didn't say.
  • All opening hours in the posts are copied listings. Four posts from July–August 2026 give 11:00–22:00 daily (last order 21:00); the September 26 post gives 12:00–22:00, so opening time seems to have moved to noon in between. Closures are announced on Instagram.
  • Visit posts priced only the bingsu, plum tea and rice cakes; most tea prices are missing. The ₩9,500 ssanghwa tea price comes from a listing post, so we don't rely on it.
  • Two different phone numbers appear, one post each, and nobody wrote about reservations. 'Groups of 6–20 on floor seating' is copied listing text.
