Chungjudaek Yangeun Sotbap
충주댁 양은솥밥 Chungjudaek is the old way of calling a married woman by her home town, 'the woman from Chungju', and yangeun sotbap is rice cooked in an aluminium pot; the scorched rice left in that pot comes back to the table as nurungji tea near the end of the meal.

A home-style set-meal restaurant on an alley off Samil-daero 30-gil in Ikseon-dong, near Exit 6 of Jongno 3-ga station. Stews such as cheonggukjang, doenjang, soft tofu and yukgaejang are 10,000 won, spicy pork 11,000 and squid 12,000; kimchi stew (22,000) and pollack stew (24,000) are for two or more. Every order comes with around five side dishes and a small fried croaker, rice scooped from an aluminium pot, and later the scorched-rice tea made in that pot. We read 23 posts from November 2024 to September 2026; 21 of them record an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- Nine posts called it cheap. One couple had spicy pork and cheonggukjang for under 30,000 won; another was surprised to get grilled fish with a 10,000-won stew set. Three women paid 46,000 won for pollack stew for two plus squid and pork.
- Expect a line at lunch. Five posts described one: crowds waiting at noon, a queue forming just after 12, and on a weekday at 1 pm a line starting the moment they sat down. One post advises giving your order while you wait; two said tables turn over fast. One visitor who arrived around 11:30 found only two or three tables taken.
- Solo diners should avoid the lunch peak: several posts saw a notice that single guests are seated only from 1:30 pm at lunch. Of the two posts by people who went alone, one arrived early and waited outside until 1:30, the owner apologising for the wait.
- Four posts described tables in the main room and floor seating at the back. One group of four ended up on the floor because nothing else was free; another noted most people in the back room were drinking. You take whatever seat opens up.

- Three posts saw celebrity autographs on the walls, one stuck right over the food photos; two noticed the posted country-of-origin board.

Getting inside
No one described the floor level from experience; the address says ground floor, but no post mentions stairs or levels.
We do not know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in; no post said.
We do not know whether the toilet is inside or separated by gender; no post mentioned it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 22 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions split on whether the stir-fry sauce is sweet: two posts found it too sweet, three said it was not.
- Size is disputed too: two posts called it cramped with about ten small tables, one found the long narrow room roomier than expected.
- Easy by subway: four posts walked from Jongno 3-ga Exit 6, one giving directions via the alley beside Mega Coffee.
- Eleven posts listed opening hours, mostly copied. All agree on a 3-5 pm break and a 9 pm close; opening is 11:30 in eight, 11:00 in two and 08:00 in one. Only one post (June 2026) said it closes on Sundays; the rest wrote 'daily'.
- Several posts give the same phone number, 02-747-8522, but no one reported actually booking by phone; one post only saw tables being set up for an evening group.
- Prices are from the February 2026 menu; for the squid, two posts wrote 12,000 won and one wrote 11,000.
