SEOULNAKUP
서울낙업 Seoul Nageop Nak is the Sino-Korean character 樂 (joy); one post reads the name as "Seoul 樂 UP" — turning up the joy of Seoul.
Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →
Seoul Nageop is a half-basement Japanese restaurant in an alley off Dongil-ro 22-gil near Konkuk Univ. Station. Weekday lunch is set meals — the nine-dish salmon bowl (14,800 won), the seasonal kaisendon (19,800 won), chicken nanban (8,800 won). At night it becomes an izakaya serving sashimi platters (38,000 won), salmon futomaki and Toowoomba pasta (12,000 won) with highballs. We read 30 posts dated 4 August to 14 October 2026; 25 describe an actual meal. One was about another restaurant and was dropped, and four were lists or write-ups without a visit, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Quiet for a Konkuk-area bar is the most repeated point: eleven posts say so, one noting that even with a fair crowd it was never too loud to talk. Many of these come from October posts that share the same promotional wording.
- A free starter arrives when you sit down — ten posts mention it: cabbage salad (with peanut dressing or corn) and yuzu-pickled cherry tomatoes. One post says the welcome dish varies a little from day to day.
- The room is small: six posts say so and none calls it spacious. One said it is small enough that booking is a must, and the tables are small too. Seven posts describe bar seats plus two- and four-person tables.
- Weekday lunch gets a queue. Two posts waited: one found a line even at about 1:30 pm, another got in at the 11:30 opening and watched the room fill and a queue form around noon. No post reports waiting at dinner.
5 more
- For dinner most people book. Four posts say you can reserve; diners who booked for 5 pm and for 6 pm on a weekend found the room nearly full already. One post says a friend paid a 20,000-won deposit and the table was theirs for two and a half hours.
- Thick cuts are a recurring point: nine posts call the fish or cutlet thick, one saying the salmon would not fit on a sheet of laver, another that the slices had to be cut to eat.
- Writing a receipt review earns a freebie — five posts mention it: an uni cup ramen at dinner, a soft drink with an ice cup at an August lunch. One self-paid post also mentions a stamp card.
- Three posts call the staff friendly. Two say staff asked about allergies and dislikes before cooking; one who mentioned onions had them left out wherever possible.
- It is close to the station: thirteen posts walked there, most from Exit 2 of Konkuk Univ. Station in two or three minutes. Some came from Exit 3; one put it at six minutes.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 14 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 4 of 25 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read) |
You go down to get in. Fourteen posts say it is in the basement or half-basement; none says ground floor. One notes it is only half a level down, so it is bright; another says floors one to three are a separate café.
We do not know whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in; nobody wrote about it. Several posts mention walking down stairs beside the entrance, and none mentions a lift or ramp — that means nobody said, not that there is none.
The toilet is inside the restaurant — four posts say so, one contrasting it with the many local bars whose toilets are outside. One post says it is unisex; others mention mouthwash and hair ties left out.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-09-02 | 2 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on salt differ: one post found the side dishes quite salty, three found things not salty.
- Opening hours are copied differently from post to post. The most common version is weekdays 11:30 to 1 am with a 2:30–5 pm break, weekends 1 pm to 1 am, last order 11:30 pm. Single posts instead give a break from 2 pm, a 4 pm opening, a 10 pm close, or Mondays off. Only one post states hours in its own words, so check before you go.
- Prices depend on the time of day: lunch runs 7,800 to 19,800 won, while dinner dishes run 8,000 to 38,000 won each. No post called it expensive and fifteen called it good value. The half salmon futomaki is 16,000 won in a September post and 14,000 won in October ones.
- More than ten posts give the phone number as 0507-1385-0071. Reservations are said to work through CatchTable and Naver Booking, though most of that is copied from the listing.
- Of the 25 posts describing a visit, one discloses sponsorship, two look like invited reviews, three say they paid themselves, and the rest say nothing about it. Several October 2026 posts repeat the same phrases in the same order (all handmade, different by day and night, good for dates), which suggests a commissioned template. Claims like everything handmade or house-brewed soy sauce come from the restaurant, so we did not treat them as evidence.
