Nel Bosco

넬보스코 Nelboseuko Nel Bosco is Italian for 'in the forest' — the house leans into it with wood and plants throughout; Namchon, in the branch name, is the old name for the area south of Cheonggyecheon below Namsan.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

Nel Bosco occupies a whole red-brick building at 16 Toegye-ro 8-gil in Jung-gu, a short walk from Hoehyeon Station exit 1. The ground floor is a bakery-café, Namchon Bakery, that bakes with soy milk; the second floor is an Italian restaurant; the top floor is a rooftop lounge and bar. Downstairs you pick your bread, pay, and either sit inside or bag it yourself — posts list an americano at 4,700 won, a pretzel bagel at 3,500 won and a jambon-beurre bagel sandwich at 8,300 won. Upstairs, people ate pizza, pasta and steak; on the roof, mango gelato shaved ice (12,000 won), cocktails and beer. That it is run by Jung Food, the maker of Vegemil soy milk, is something many posts repeat rather than observed. We read 30 posts from 19 May to 9 October 2026, set aside one about a theme park in Gimhae, and counted 26 actual visits — 20 of them to the ground-floor bakery.

Rows without a count: 10 of 12 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Space is the most common remark: 17 of the 26 visits call it roomy. One post describes four-person tables as standard downstairs, with two-tops along the counter; another says the tables are spaced far enough apart to talk; groups of five and six sat together. The upstairs restaurant is also described as spacious.
  2. There is outdoor seating in two places, mentioned in 9 posts. The ground-floor terrace has six to eight tables by one count, and one regular always sat out there in good weather; on the roof, one couple took a table with a view of Namsan, while another couldn't sit outside because it was still wet from the previous day's rain.
  3. Leftover bread is yours to wrap: 7 posts mention taking food away, and one describes a station with ovens and bags where you reheat your own bread and pack up what's left.
  4. No post calls it expensive, and 7 say it isn't: one found the bread large and cheap, another thought the rooftop shaved ice good value. Prices given: americano 4,700 won, pretzel bagel 3,500, pistachio-cream salt bread 4,300, jambon-beurre 8,300, mango gelato shaved ice 12,000.
3 more
  1. It's a walk from Hoehyeon Station exit 1. Ten posts say it's close — two minutes on foot by one account; turn into the lane by the exit and the red-brick building comes into view.
  2. People come back: 5 posts are from repeat visitors, including an office worker nearby who comes after every team lunch.
  3. Each floor is its own business: one post watched a customer get told off for bringing a drink bought downstairs up to the rooftop.

Getting inside

Second floor5 of 23 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 23 posts read)
Lift to the floor6 of 23 posts
Toilet inside1 of 23 posts

The bakery is at street level: 5 posts describe walking into the ground-floor shop. The basement is a car park, as many posts repeat.

The rooftop is reached by lift: 6 posts took it, and one notes the stairs go to the second floor while the lift goes to the roof.

No one said whether there is a step at the door or whether they came in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that there's a problem. Several posts do mention a lift to the upper floors.

Only one post placed a toilet from experience — inside the rooftop space. We don't know where the ground-floor bakery's toilet is. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing details, which we didn't count.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Noise is disputed: 3 posts found it loud — sound echoes, busy with large groups — and 1 found it quiet enough to talk.
  • No one wrote about queuing. One post found every seat taken around 4 pm, another found the lunch hour packed with office workers, and one group was told the rooftop kitchen would take about an hour and a half because the chef had stepped out, so they went to the second floor instead. Popular breads sell out by afternoon, some posts say.
  • Table reservations are unclear: one post booked the restaurant ahead, another couldn't book the rooftop and went anyway. Bread and cakes can be pre-ordered through Naver, many posts repeat. Several posts give the bakery's phone number as 0507-1423-9401.
  • Two posts went to the bakery with children — a two-year-old and a child who picked a doughnut. A posted rooftop rule barring under-13s after 5:30 pm is quoted in one post; that's the house's notice, not something we counted.
  • Opening hours differ by floor. Ten posts give the bakery as 8 am–8 pm on weekdays and 9 am–8 pm on weekends; two say 8 am–8 pm every day. The restaurant runs 11:30 am–9 pm with a break from 3 to 5:30 pm; the rooftop 11:30 am–11 pm, last orders at 10. One post saw a notice of new hours from 1 June 2026, and one gives the restaurant's closing as 10 pm, which we take to be the earlier schedule. Most of these hours are copied from listings.
  • Posts disagree on which floor the rooftop is: ten say the fifth, two say the third. Four posts say the third floor holds the bakery kitchen and coffee roasting room.
  • One post declares sponsorship and 8 say they paid their own way. A post copying Jung Food's own webzine and another that only restates the listing were not counted as visits.
