Katto

카토 Kato Katto is Finnish for roof; posts say the name came from the old tiled rooftops seen from the converted two-story house.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Katto is a European home-cooking brunch restaurant in a converted two-story house on a side street between Yongsan and Sinyongsan stations. The most-ordered dishes were the German pancake (21,000 won, 14 posts), ratatouille chicken (22,000 won, 12) and eggplant lasagna (22,000 won, 9); two diners sharing two dishes and drinks reported paying 50,000 and 58,000 won. Brunch runs until 5 p.m., then a dinner menu with wine. Seating is split between the ground floor and front yard and an upstairs room with a terrace. We read 30 posts from July 28 to October 17, 2026; 29 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait around weekend lunch. Eight posts waited or saw a line: one waited 15 to 20 minutes behind three groups at 2:10 p.m. on a Saturday, another signed in on a waiting machine as number one. One got a table at 10:30 on a Sunday and saw walk-ins start queuing by 11; another found a wait forming at 10:30 on a Saturday. Two posts mention benches or a waiting spot by the front wall.
  2. Fourteen posts say you can book (Naver or Catch Table), and twelve of them booked and walked straight in; two found a name card on their table. One saw many walk-ins turned away when full, and one says only about 10% of tables are bookable on weekends.
  3. How you order depends on where you sit: five posts ordered by table QR code, three at the ground-floor counter, and one explains it — counter downstairs, QR upstairs. One post says there is no paper menu; another saw menus on every table.
  4. Most say portions are small: five posts found them light, two found them filling. One suggests three dishes for two people.
3 more
  1. Fifteen posts mention terrace seating: a gravel front yard under a persimmon tree with metal tables and parasols, and a small upstairs terrace overlooking tiled roofs. One July 2026 post moved indoors because of construction noise and dust nearby. One post notes the only 6-to-8-person table is upstairs, sharing a room with two four-tops — not a private room.
  2. Nine posts say in their own words that it is an easy walk: 6 to 10 minutes from Yongsan Station exit 1, 8 to 12 from Sinyongsan exit 3, and several came on foot from I'Park Mall. One advises using a map because it sits inside a residential lane.
  3. Ten posts went with friends and four with a partner. Four were wedding-invitation get-togethers; one group was allowed to light candles on a cake they brought, and staff took a Polaroid for them.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 29 posts

Only one post speaks to parking in its own words: there is no lot, so people use nearby paid lots or I'Park Mall. The parking lists in other posts (a nearby paid lot at 3,000 won per 30 minutes, I'Park Mall, Ichon Hangang Park) are copied, so we don't count them; one post did park at the nearby lot and left the key with the restaurant that runs it.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Nine posts say in their own words that it is an easy walk: 6 to 10 minutes from Yongsan Station exit 1, 8 to 12 from Sinyongsan exit 3, and several came on foot from I'Park Mall. One advises using a map because it sits inside a residential lane.

Getting inside

Second floor11 of 29 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 29 posts read)
Toilet inside3 of 29 posts

No one wrote about a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access — that means we don't know, not that there is none. Two posts note the yard is gravel, four say the upstairs is reached only by an outdoor staircase, and none mention a lift. Five posts sat on the ground floor; nobody mentioned a basement.

Three posts say the restroom is inside, one calling it very clean. Nobody said whether it is gender-separated or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Twenty-two posts list opening hours, all copied from listings. Fifteen agree on 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends, last order 9 p.m.; two say 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with last order at 8, and one swaps weekday and weekend times. Four say there is no midday break.
  • Views on price split: one post found it poor value for the taste and won't return, one called the 29,900-won steak good value, one thought the nachos overpriced. Most plates are 21,000 to 25,000 won, drinks 5,500 to 7,500 won.
  • Over ten posts give the same phone number, 0507-1395-7397, and one says you can book by phone as well as Naver; no post actually booked by phone.
  • Four posts saw a cat at the gate or in the yard, but none says whether it belongs to the restaurant. The note that pets are allowed on the ground-floor terrace with a reservation is copied from the shop's listing.
  • Eight posts from September and October 2026 share a 「Yongsan Station restaurant Katto」 title pattern and the same hashtag string; only one discloses sponsorship. We can't tell about the rest, so we counted them, but it may explain how alike their praise reads.
