Japanese

Gorogoro Yongsan

고로고로 용산 Gorogoro (ごろごろ) is a Japanese mimetic word for big chunks tumbling about — one blogger reads it as the chunky toppings piled on the bowl.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Gorogoro Yongsan sits on the ground floor of an old red-brick building at 27 Hangang-daero 11-gil, in the Yongridan-gil lanes, serving kaisendon and eel rice bowls. Posts put the base Gorogoro bowl — minced fatty tuna with octopus, squid, conch and salmon roe — at 20,000 won, the top bowl at 42,000 won and the large eel bowl at 36,000 won. You order by QR code at the table, wrap bites in seaweed, and when about a third of the rice is left the staff pour broth over it for ochazuke. We read 30 posts dated June 21 to October 17, 2026; 27 describe an actual visit (two recount visits from August and December 2025). None mentions a move, a price change or a menu change in that time.

Rows without a count: 3 of 16 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nine posts waited and five walked straight in. Recorded waits: 30 minutes on a weekend at 2 pm, 30 minutes behind seven parties on a weekend evening, 15 minutes behind three parties at 1 pm on a Sunday, and 10 minutes. The no-wait visits were two weekdays around 5 pm, one weekday after lunch and two weekends (one with a booking). There is a CatchTable kiosk at the door, and two posts mention seats out front for waiting.
  2. Eleven posts booked ahead through Naver or CatchTable. One booked the 11:30 opening and saw every table fill within ten minutes.
  3. Sixteen posts ordered by scanning a QR code at the table with their phone; some also requested extra seaweed, rice or the ochazuke broth that way.
  4. Nine posts got a free Suntory highball for writing a Naver review; one gives the regular price as 5,900 won.
4 more
  1. Five posts describe a counter facing the open kitchen right inside the door, where you watch the bowls being made; one said those counter seats were not very comfortable. Others describe a side room with two- to four-person tables and large windows.
  2. Five posts say the room is small — people sat packed together and could hear the next table. No post called it roomy.
  3. Six posts call it expensive and two say the price is high but fair for what is on the bowl. One said at 42,000 won you might as well go to a tuna bar; another said the price would keep them from coming often.
  4. Four posts went with family (a mother, a husband and cousin, family, a grade-school son), three with friends, and two on a date with a partner or husband.

Getting inside

Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

Only one post mentions the floor, saying the shop is at street level. None mentions stairs or upstairs seating.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller got in. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no barrier.

Two posts mention the restroom: one says it is inside at the back and clean, the other that it is a single unisex stall, kept clean, with mouthwash.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts split on portion size: six found it ample or more filling than it looked, five found it small. One put it at just under a bowl of Korean rice; others note that extra rice and seaweed were free.
  • Three posts ordered Kirin draft beer, but one from September 9, 2026 says the house sells highballs, not draft. A post from the next day ordered draft, so this is not a change over time.
  • Posts disagree on weekend bookings: one booked a weekend visit, one heard weekends take no bookings, one thought weekend dinners cannot be booked, and one said weekend bookings start only after 3 pm. Check by phone (0507-1379-9796) before going.
  • Opening hours appear in 17 posts, all copied from the listing: 11:30–21:00 daily, a 15:30–17:00 break on weekdays only, no break on weekends. Only one gives a 20:30 last order. They agree, but these are the shop's posted hours, not something anyone tested.
  • Two posts went by public transit — one walked 15 minutes from Yongsan Station exit 1, another found it easy to reach from the station. One said it is a fair walk from the stations. Figures like '8 minutes on foot' or '544 m' elsewhere are copied from the listing.
  • A bowl runs 20,000 to 42,000 won in these posts; one pair paid 83,900 won for two bowls and drinks. The crab Gorogoro is listed at 24,000 won in one post and 20,000 won in another. Nobody says whether the ochazuke costs extra.
